The WNBA All-Star Weekend kicked off in Indianapolis last night with a starry, MVP-in-sport-and-style-worthy orange carpet, preceding the next few days of buzzy events that will see the biggest names in basketball go toe-to-toe. Across the weekend, star athletes from each conference will face off in a series of challenges, from the Skills Challenge to the Three-Point Contest, and Saturday’s All-Star exhibition where Team Clark and Team Collier will engage in the ultimate face-off.
On the court, the players are restricted to their uniforms and team colors. On the orange carpet, however, many saw it as a chance to articulate their personal style, take sartorial risks, and have a lot of fun before they ditch their usual jerseys for their All-Star sets. Atlanta Dream guard Allisha Gray, in an embellished, structured double-denim look, has everything to play for: She’s back again after becoming the first WNBA player to scoop two challenge wins for the skills challenge and three-point contest in the same year in 2024. For her second-ever All-Star appearance, former Vogue cover star and Chicago Sky power forward Angel Reese stepped out in a sharp-shouldered leopard print coat-dress and sky-high, killer stilettos.
Elsewhere, Dallas Wings guard and first-time WNBA star Paige Bueckers opted for a full Marni menswear look in keeping with her own cool personal style, while three-time WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson paid homage to her on-the-court leg sleeve style with a richly red gown and a high leg slit.
