I Walked 11,000+ Steps in Vivaia’s Platform Loafers

I’m the odd person who rarely wears open-toed sandals in the summertime. While it’s mostly because I’m lazy about maintaining my pedicure, I also find sandals to be uncomfortable. Instead, I tend to gravitate towards lightweight sneakers and versatile loafers. 

In fact, those are the only pairs of shoes I packed during my recent four-day trip to Las Vegas. While I expected the tennis shoes to be comfy, I was blown away by how pain- and blister-free my feet were in Vivaia’s Round-Toe Chunky Platform Penny Loafers.

Although I’ve worn many loafer styles over the years, I’ve never found chunky platforms to be comfortable. But I should’ve known the Bella Hadid- and Oprah-worn brand is in a league of its own.

Vivaia’s version features a stretchy, breathable upper that hugs your feet for an extra supportive grip, while still being flexible enough to move with you. The true hero, however, was the cushioned insole, which felt like I was walking on clouds and getting a foot massage at the same time thanks to the honeycomb-shaped padding. These comfy design elements saved me on the day I attended Cosmoprof, a beauty convention held in Vegas, and walked nearly five miles and more than 11,000 steps (!). 

As for the platform lug sole? It didn’t feel clunky or heavy like most platform loafers do. Instead it gave me a nice lift—a huge perk for me since I’m 4-foot-11—and offered a non-slip grip (another bonus, since I spent time at multiple casinos that had everything from carpet to elevated tiled floors to bridged walkways.)              

Comfort aside, Vivaia’s loafers are so versatile that I wore them with an athleisure dress, a basic tee and utility pants, and a preppy striped shirt and pleated skirt during my trip. The round-toe front and strap detailing give it a stylish finish, and my classic gray colorway makes it easy to pair with practically everything. It also comes in 13 other colors, including a classic black, beige, and brown. (I’m definitely eyeing the trendy leopard print for my future fall outfits.)
