All About Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk’s Lookalike Daughter Lea De Seine

Bradley Cooper has had his share of compelling roles over the years, but few compare to his role as dad. The 12-time Oscar nominee shares daughter Lea De Seine Shayk Cooper, born in 2017, with model Irina Shayk. While the couple split in 2019, according to People, they remain committed co-parents.

Shayk, 39, praised Cooper’s relationship with their daughter in a November 2023 Elle interview. “He’s the best father Lea and I could dream of. It always works, but it always works because we make it work,” the Sports Illustrated model told the outlet of their dynamic.

Cooper also opened up about how fatherhood changed his life in a 2019 interview with Oprah Winfrey for Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations from Times Square. “It’s changed everything,” he said. “I mean, our daughter is—she’s incredible.”

Cooper and Shayk dated from 2015 to 2019, but kept their relationship out of the spotlight. Shayk explained the decision to Glamour UK for a February 2019 cover story. “Because my work requires me to be out there, I just decided my personal life will be quiet,” she said. “That’s why it’s called personal, because it’s something for you and your family, and I feel happy with it.”

Nevertheless, the former couple have made a few public appearances with their 8-year-old, as well as sharing sweet and relatable parenting stories in interviews. Here’s everything Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk have shared about their daughter Lea.

She reminds Cooper of his father.

During his Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations from Times Square appearance in 2019, Cooper revealed that his daughter reminds him of his late father, Charles Cooper, who died from lung cancer in January 2011, per People.

“I see my father in [Lea] quite often,” the Nightmare Alley star told Winfrey. “And I can’t believe I’m going to admit this, but I had moments, when she was a child, and I was just in the room with her. I would say, ‘Dad?’

“Because there’s some moments where she looks just like my father. I’ve watched too many movies,” Cooper added with a laugh.

Cooper and Shayk are teaching her their values.

Though they may work in the spotlight, Cooper and Shayk strive to keep their daughter grounded. 

“We’re teaching our daughter that the most important thing is to be kind to people. Every time we send her to school, we’re like, ‘Just remember kindness and love.’ So I think that’s what true beauty is,” Shayk wrote in a 2023 essay for Harper’s Bazaar.

She added that Lea helped her learn to love herself. “She’ll say, ‘I love Daddy so much, I love Mama so much, I love Nana, I love Babulya—’ who is my mom. Then she goes, ‘And I really love myself.’ And I’m looking at my daughter and I’m like, ‘Wow, I wasn’t like that at six years old.’”

In another interview, Shayk discussed how she and Cooper have taught their daughter manners. “He’s a full-on, hands-on dad—no nanny,” she told Highsnobiety of her ex, adding later in the conversation, “Me and [Lea’s] father are very strict. When she finishes eating, she gets up from the table, takes her plate, says ‘thank you.’ Without ‘please’ or ‘thank you’ she’s not getting anything.”

Shayk wants her daughter to see her being a working mom.

In 2021, Shayk opened up to British Vogue about losing her father when she was just 14 years old. “He was the healthiest man alive, and at 44, out of the blue, he was coughing for a while then got pneumonia and died. Me, my mom and my sister were left. Three women.”

Inspired by her mother’s example, the model mom wants to show her daughter that women can be providers and parents at the same time.

“I always try not to stay away from my daughter for more than a week, but I also don’t want to be this woman who’s not truthful to herself, because I love my work and I was raised in a woman-run household. I want my daughter to know that momma has a job in her life because I want to raise a strong, powerful woman. Presents and food do not come out of the blue,” she told British Vogue.

They take Lea everywhere.

Before she started school, Lea would go “everywhere” with Shayk and Cooper, the model told Elle in 2023. 

“She’s super easy,” the mom said of a then-5-year-old Lea. “Two days ago, I had to go to the gym, so I just got her a drawing book and said, ‘Mama’s working out.’ She was drawing for an hour. Then we went to the Michael Kors fitting,” Shayk continued. “She met all the girls. Michael gave her a bag. She drew him a kitty cat.”

Even when their schedules get busy, the former couple make things work. When Lea graduated from Kindergarten, Cooper told Deadline he was in the middle of filming Maestro, the biopic he directed and starred in as composer Leonard ‘Lenny’ Bernstein. Not wanting to miss his daughter’s milestone moment, the actor hurried to her school straight from the set.

“[W]e were still shooting,” Cooper explained. “So, I attended her graduation in full make-up as Lenny. So much so that some of the mothers must have thought, ‘Who is that guy?’ Seriously. I was Lenny. Full Lenny. It was crazy.”

She matched with her dad at Super Bowl LIX.

Cooper and his mini-me had an adorable matching moment at Super Bowl LIX in 2025. The Philadelphia native and die-hard Eagles fan donned the team’s signature kelly green for the big game, as did his daughter. While the 50-year-old chose to rock a sleek varsity jacket, Lea wore an Eagles sweatshirt with a checkered pleated skirt and trendy Moon Boots.

After the Eagles won the game, Cooper told Fox Sports the experience was a full-circle moment for him as a fan and a parent. “I’m just one of thousands and thousands that get the opportunity to love this team and live for this team, be a part of Philadelphia,” he said. “I used to come with my dad and now I get to bring my daughter, it’s just a beautiful thing in life. It’s a miracle.”

She’s hit the red carpet with Cooper.

A 6-year-old Lea made her red carpet debut in December 2023, stepping out with her dad at the premiere of his movie Maestro. Cooper’s daughter held his hand on the carpet, smiling and posing in an animal-print dress. 

She had a cameo in the Oscar-nominated film as the younger version of Maya Hawke’s character, Jamie Bernstein. When the film had its wide release, Shayk shared a sweet Instagram Stories post celebrating her and Cooper’s daughter making her film debut. “Congrats @maestrofilm So proud Daddy and Lea 💕” the model wrote in her story, per People.

Lea hit the red carpet again in May 2024 for the premiere of IF, a children’s movie about imaginary friends. At the event, she excitedly pointed at her dad’s character, Ice, on a poster outside the theater, making Cooper smile. People captured the sweet moment on video.

She’s friends with other celebrity kids—including Gigi Hadid’s daughter Khai.

Lea also sees her parents’ A-list pals off the red carpet when she has playdates with their kids. During the 2020 pandemic, she befriended Anne Hathaway’s two sons, and the two families formed a pod, Cooper shared in Hathaway’s August 2025 Vogue cover story. 

“We started hanging out as parents, having dance parties with children in my kitchen, and I fell in love with both of them,” the A Star is Born actor said of Hathaway and her husband, Adam Shulman.

In May 2025, a source told People that Lea had also met Gigi Hadid’s daughter, Khai Malik, whom she shares with ex Zayn Malik. Cooper and Hadid have been romantically linked since October 2023. The source said the couple “have a lot in common and Bradley’s daughter, Lea, is so sweet and gentle with Khai.”
