    Key Takeaways

    • Jen Atkin’s viral Mane hot tools now have matching hair styling products and hair and body mists—and the celebrity hairstylist told us all about them.
    • It’s “Easy Beauty for the Cuties” and Atkin says this is only the beginning.

Cuties, it’s time for the Mane event. Jen Atkin’s Mane has relaunched.

Formerly best known for their viral hot tools, the brand has decided to expand with some nostalgia-forward hair and body mists… plus a series of high-performance styling essentials that are equally fun, flirty, and enticing.

“This launch is such a special moment for me. When I created Ouai, it was rooted in chic minimalism—clean lines, luxury performance, and that elevated, effortless feel. But with Mane, I wanted to explore a completely different world—one that feels pink, playful, nostalgic, and a lot of FUN,” Atkin (you know her from her trademark “undone” styles and role as trusted hairstylist to the stars) tells Byrdie. “These stylers represent a new chapter, not just for the brand, but for me creatively. We’re bringing incredible performance with personality—haircare that really works and makes you smile.”

Mane’s whole new thing is captured by their perfect tagline: “Easy Beauty for the Cuties.” And Atkin says this is only the beginning. Ahead, learn everything there is to know about the new products from the founder herself.

    The Inspiration

“Honestly? Joy,” says Atkin when asked about the ultimate inspiration for the new products and corresponding relaunch.

“When I started envisioning Mane as a brand, it was during COVID and my goal was to make cute, fun stuff that felt like a little dose of dopamine on your shelf. For this next chapter, we wanted to dig even deeper into the innocence and rawness of youth—from the fragrances to the colors to our packaging,” she explains.

Take, for example, the brand’s new hand-drawn logo. It was created by their (dream job alert) Chief Doodle Officer, 12-year-old Tati.

    Mane

“It’s organic, imperfect, and full of personality—just like our new bottle shapes,” adds the founder. “It sits side-by-side with our original retro logo, and we wanted to have fun with our logo like the skate brands I grew up with did. This brand is rooted in accessibility, creativity, and joy—and our stylers embody all of that.”

While Atkin is so proud of what her first brand, Ouai, has become (a secret to healthy, bouncy hair, among other things), she notes that it was born in “a very chic, clean, grown-up world.”

“I love that world and am so excited for the newness we have coming. But Mane gave me the chance to continue to play in a white space in beauty and make the brand I wish existed when I was young and carefree—playful, bright, and a little weird in the best way,” she explains.

She’s especially proud of how personal this brand feels. The sparkle comes through in the scents, the colors, and the collaboration efforts with the brand’s focus group: Mane Squeeze.

“I’m also proud of how accessible we’ve made everything—professional-grade, high-quality, and fun,” Atkin adds. “And I love that our social feeds are a little unhinged. That’s the point. Beauty should feel good and make you smile.”

    The Stylers

Mane’s starter lineup includes three dry styling products: Temp Check Heat Protector, Shiny Dancer Nourishing Hair Oil, and Cotton Candy Dry Texturizer. Each is a “grab, spritz, style, and go” offering, easy to use and even easier for your hair to appreciate, and they all clock in under $35.

“There’s so much amazing innovation happening right now in treatments and wet lines. Ten years after creating Ouai, I now have access to the best labs and its been incredible to test out formulas and create with them,” Atkin says. “I also wanted to do more than what is out there—in my kit was legacy brands that haven’t updated in a long time or grocery store stylers—I felt a real opportunity was in the dry styling space. That’s the part of the routine where so many people still feel stuck. So we created three everyday heroes that are easy to use, smell unreal, and deliver real results.”

The go-to heat protectant Temp Check is a dry mist that shields strands from heat up to 450°F, fights frizz, and primes for shine. It features the brand’s new signature Pinky Promise scent: “a juicy swirl of lychee, rose, and vanilla.” Atkin says her favorite part of the product is that it actually protects your hair without weighing it down: “It’s lightweight but powerful.”

The rich-but-not-greasy Shiny Dancer is a nourishing hair oil made to smooth, hydrate, and soften your strands. Atkin calls it her secret weapon and notes that its frizz-smoothing and shine-adding abilities work on wet or dry hair.

    Mane

Then, there’s dry texturizer Cotton Candy, which offers hair a touchable, tousled look just like its namesake treat. “It gives you that cool-girl, lived-in texture. And the scent? Addictive.“ says Atkin. The scent in question is Sea Sweet, which offers a “fresh breeze of green apple, melon, and musk” and reminds us of the Body Fantasies Cucumber Melon Fantasy spray we were obsessed with way back when.

    Mane

“What I’m most proud of is that every product hits our three non-negotiables,” adds the founder, who makes sure she’s present for every brainstorm, formula review, and design session. “One: It has to work—like, salon-quality-at-home level. Two: It has to smell so good you can’t stop spraying it. And three: It has to be cute—packaging that’s memorable, functional, and joyful.”

    The Mists

If you don’t feel like doing some major styling but still want to Mane your mane, you can also grab one of the brand’s new hair and body mists. Pinky Promise Hair & Body Mist has the same “floral, fruity, and forever young” fragrance as Temp Check and Shiny Dancer while Sea Sweet Hair & Body Mist matches Cotton Candy for a crisp, sweet, vacation-in-a-bottle moment.

Obviously, the scents are all nostalgia-forward. And for good reason! Atkin says these aren’t just mists, they’re time machines. These particular time machines bring you to a place where your old favorites still feel luxe, modern, and wearable, though.

    Mane

“Fragrance is deeply emotional for me. It brings you back to a moment, a feeling, a version of yourself. And right now, I think a lot of us are craving that kind of connection—something lighthearted and happy,” she says. “Pinky Promise smells like good memories before life got stressful: getting ready with your friends before a dance. It’s soft, warm, and totally unforgettable. Sea Sweet is your salty-air, beachy-waves, summer-(heart)break moment—it’s fruity, flirty, and just refreshing enough to make you feel like you’re on vacation.”

    What’s Next For Mane

Though it’s not entirely fair to ask a brand “what’s next” mid-relaunch (this is what was next!!), Atkin wasn’t kidding when she said Mane is just getting started. Though they’re “obsessed” with hair right now, there’s more to come.

    Mane

“If I’ve learned anything in the last 10 years as a founder, it’s that we’re so lucky to create for and WITH our customers in this digital era. We believe in products that spark joy and scents that stay with you—not just on your body, but in your memories. Our fragrances have legs, and I definitely see them becoming part of more categories as we grow,” Atkin says. “Whether it’s your hair, your room, your overall beauty vibe—we want to be there, making it a little bit cuter.”
