Key Takeaways
- Kaia Gerber took to the streets of Venice with two great arm accessories: a cute boy and a micro-French manicure.
- The dainty design is easier to get than you’d think. (No promises on a matching actor beau to hold your hand, though.)
When in France, do as the French do and get a French manicure. When in Italy, maybe also do as the French do and get a French manicure?
Or forget all that and take the evergreen greatest advice, which is to follow whatever path Kaia Gerber is on. It just so happens that she’s also embracing Frenchies. In Italy, no less!
Kaia Gerber’s Micro-French Manicure

Over the weekend, Gerber showed up at the Venice International Film Festival with a simple manicure that featured the teeniest stripe of white paint on each tip. We call that a baby French or micro-French manicure.
This set in particular was kept long and almond-shaped. Though not completely invisible, the New Moon-worthy sliver of polish was set against a nude background for an even more timeless look.

Holding hands with Lewis Pullman everywhere she went, Gerber was first spotted on August 31 in a plunging polka dot top. The next day, she changed into a sheer black lace dress for the premiere of The Testament Of Ann Lee. Then, she wore a white top with white skirt with black heeled flip flops while arriving at Lido on September 2. The micro French came with her everywhere, and looked perfect in every setting.
How to Get the Look
Though I’m certain the model had a professional paint her famous fingernails, this is a look you could conceivably get at home. Byrdie has a guide to DIY’ing a flawless French manicure here.
If getting the tip that thin and even sounds overwhelming, you can also go the press-on route. If you’re fine with a square shape, Glamnetic has a pretty set.
Then, grab your current book club read and hit the canals. Or the Eiffel tower. Or the red carpet. Or nowhere at all! From hard launches to casual late summer day dates, this look is a go-to for a reason.
