A mysterious invitation titled Club Supper arrived in the mail. Addressed from Public School New York, it promised “an unforgettable New York City evening.”

Public School, the fashion label rooted in New York street culture and long synonymous with cool-guy tailoring, has been on an extended hiatus. In recent years, designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne have helmed other houses and pursued independent projects. Their return to the NYFW calendar was met with open arms.

Instead of following the tried-and-true format of runway show, presentation, then after-party, Chow and Osborne rewrote the playbook. Their comeback took shape as an immersive supper club where musicians, bartenders, comedians, waiters, and even elevator attendants wore Public School looks. The evening doubled as a sneak peek of what’s to come—their official collection showing is slated for February 2026.

Hosted at Saga in downtown Manhattan, the supper club unfolded across three distinct floors: a moody jazz lounge, a fine dining restaurant, and a lively comedy club. “This is what tonight’s dinner is all about—it’s bringing everyone back home,” Chow told Vogue. “It’s really important to see how much love and support we still have after being away for six years. That means a lot. It means we did something really special, and we hope to do something really special again.”

While editors and celebrities were well represented, it was the athletes who stole the spotlight—among them Devin Booker, Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Jordan Clarkson. Guests toasted with Armand de Brignac champagne, laughed through a comedy set by Donnell Rawlings, listened to a Max Roach jazz tribute, and dined on a menu by chef Charlie Mitchell.

Cocktail attire was the rule, but personal twists reigned supreme. Archival Public School suiting, slouchy pants, easy ties, sneakers, and baseball caps were everywhere. Natasha Lyonne, Common, Tyson Beckford, and Marisa Tomei mingled, climbing between floors and pausing to take in sweeping city views.

With their playful supper club, Chow and Osborne sent a message loud and clear: Public School is back in session.
