Key Takeaways
- Selena Gomez chose a stunning and simple nude manicure for the 2025 Emmys.
- Nail artist Tom Bachik dubbed the look “sophisticated silk”—and told us exactly how you can get it yourself.
Though she wasn’t up for any solo awards at the 2025 Emmys (Only Murders in the Building was nominated, though!), Selena Gomez is an across-the-board winner in my book. You can technically make up awards any time you want—you can even get trophies printed!—and I’m granting her the prize of best fall mani inspiration.
On Sunday, September 14, the actress hit the red carpet alongside her castmates and fiancé, Benny Blanco, in a bright red Louis Vuitton dress with a sculptural neckline and trailing train. The whole look was smooth, but not as smooth as the nude gel polish on her fingers.
Selena Gomez’s Silk Manicure
Gomez’s go-to manicurist, Tom Bachik, dubbed the look “sophisticated silk” in an Instagram post. The actress’s nails were filed down into a natural, short, rounded shape and painted a soft nude with only the slightest shimmer.
Simple as can be, the nail art was a big change up from the gilded almond tips she was rocking last week. Could it be that she’s in wedding manicure trials? (Those hands looked especially at home when held up against her betrothed’s chest.)

How to Get the Look
Bachik was kind enough to offer a full breakdown of how he crafted the nail art.

“We always start with my go-to Tweezerman tools: The Pushy, Rock Hard Cuticle Nippers, and Pro File,” he explained in his post. From there, he went in with a single coat of CND’s Shellac Base Coat before applying two thin, even coats of the brand’s Silk Thread polish. (If you’re not a gel person, the brand’s Silk Slip Dress is a good match.)
The duo finished things off with CND Shellac No-Wipe Topcoat and some Solar Oil for “that fresh, youthful glow.”

Sophisticated and silky, indeed.
