Try Warm Highlights

If you love your hairstyle but still feel like something’s missing, consider color. Ouidad stylist and educator Jason Hallman has been seeing an increase in requests for red and copper tones in his curly-haired clients. “Hand-painted highlights create movement, depth, and a subtle glow, which is ideal for curly hair,” he says. Additionally, he’s been mixing low-maintenance gloss toners in copper and caramel tones for his curly clients to adjust their highlights. As we straddle the time of year when it’s not super hot, but not quite cold out, he also recommends Ouidad Advanced Climate Control Heat & Humidity Gel to keep humidity out, while sealing in moisture without crunch.
Michelle Hong, founder and creative director at NYC The Team, says that mocha brown tones for brunettes are in high demand in her salon, while her blonde clients are requesting honey balayage, which she calls the “perfect fall transition color, with golden hues that balance any bleach on the ends from summer so your shade looks healthier and richer.”
