Lightweight Daily Serum That Makes My Hair Look Fuller Without the Grease
I have been paying a lot more attention to my scalp lately because I know healthy hair really does start at the root. The Soapbox ProGRO Density+ Hair Thickening Serum comes in a 1 oz bottle, which is considered about a one month supply if you use the recommended 1 ml per day. I have been using it as a daily leave in treatment on dry or towel dried hair, focusing directly on my scalp.The first thing I noticed is how lightweight it is. It feels almost like a thin, watery serum rather than an oil. It spreads easily across my scalp and absorbs quickly. I do not get any greasy residue and it does not weigh my hair down, which is important because my hair can look flat fast. Once it dries, I do not feel any stickiness and I can style as usual.What really drew me in is the ingredient list, especially the ProGRO VitaGRO Complex. It includes Redensyl™, which is often used to help support the hair growth cycle and encourage thicker looking strands over time. ALGAKTIV® Densidyl® is derived from microalgae and is meant to help protect the scalp and support density at the root. Eterwell™ HAIR is included to help improve the look of hair strength and longevity, which is key if you are noticing increased shedding.There is also BeauPlex® VH, a blend of B vitamins that help condition the scalp and support healthier looking hair. On top of that, the custom botanical blend includes rosemary and caffeine, both of which are known for stimulating the scalp and increasing circulation. Saw palmetto is often associated with helping address factors linked to hair thinning, and vitamin C works as an antioxidant to help protect the scalp from environmental stressors.I do feel a slight tingle when I apply it, which I actually like because it makes me feel like my scalp is being stimulated. It is not uncomfortable, just noticeable for a few minutes. My scalp feels refreshed afterward, not dry or tight. After consistent daily use, my hair looks a bit fuller at the roots, especially around my part line where I am most self conscious. I am not expecting dramatic regrowth in a month, but I do see an improvement in how dense my hair appears when styled. It gives me a little more lift and my ponytail feels slightly thicker.The formula is vegan and cruelty free, and it is made without harsh chemicals. I have not experienced irritation or flaking with regular use. The only drawback for me is the size. At 1 oz, you do need to be mindful about measuring roughly 1 ml per use if you want it to last the full month. Finally a hair growth serum that really is NON-greasy!! & from a fantastic brand!
To preface – I am 37, and for a while now – I have thinning hair at the temples + receding hairline especially at top of forehead. So I am very interested in hair growth products but what makes it difficult for me to find products that will work for me is that I only wash my hair every 2 weeks or so – so for me to use a hair growth product, it cannot make my hair greasy which is what cuts out nearly all hair growth serum options for me.. So that being said – I specifically got this product since while no ingredients were listed on the product page (which I would have checked for how much of it is one or more types of oils) I saw that the listing said in one or more places that it’s non greasy and designed to just dry into hair so it can be used at any time of day etc which is what sold me.That being said – I put it on dry hair (since it was a “hair wash day” for me anyway so in case it made my hair greasy it was ok..) & regarding making hair greasy: it shockingly didn’t make my hair look greasy (or if it did a little it was barely to the point of noticing where I should definitely be able to use this daily or nearly daily because of that). I will have to wait and see that it (hopefully) doesn’t have too much of an impact on greasiness when applying it continually like that without washing in between so TBD on that.Other notes — It says to use 1ml but for now – I’m only going to use it on my hair line (both temples and top of forehead which is where I notice hair thinning/receding) so I didn’t use full 1 ml and instead put what seemed like an appropriate not-too-excessive amount (didn’t measure but maybe ended up putting around 1/4 a 1/3 ml) so I’m sure this bottle will last me a long time- It has a pretty strong rosemary scent when you put your nose up to the open bottle but I think rosemary has a nice clean herbal scent and I didn’t smell it in my hair or anything like that.- Also no irritation – even applying directly on exposed scalp/forehead.- The product itself has a very “professional” high end look and packaging which I love. I think it seems like a very high quality hair growth serum and worth the price.- & As a side note/anecdote – my husband and I get very dry hands in the winter and had tried many handsoaps that claimed to be moisturizing to no avail until trying Soapbox which we found to be the only one that actually moisturizes and doesn’t dry out your hands/wrists like regular handsoap does & even with numerous hand washes each day keeps your hands soft even in the driest of winters so it’s the only handsoap at every sink in our household during all of winter (so I definitely trust this brand to do what it says!)With this hair serum product – only time will tell how much it helps with hair regrowth (so I’ll have to post an update to the review in a few weeks or months after continuous use) but initial impressions are that it’s 100% worth trying & I’m just overjoyed to have finally found a NON-greasy hair growth serum (& from a brand I trust) so I can actually try to fix thinning hair around my face – highly recommend!

I recently tried the Soapbox ProGRO Density+ Scalp & Hair Growth Serum, and I wanted to share my thoughts. First off, I appreciate that it’s powered by clean, dermatologist-tested ingredients. It feels good knowing that what I’m putting on my scalp has been studied and formulated thoughtfully.The serum contains 3% Redensyl, which I’ve read can be beneficial for hair growth, along with rosemary, caffeine, and saw palmetto. The combination made me curious, and I was eager to see if it would make a difference in my hair’s overall health and density.After using it daily for about two weeks, I noticed some small positive changes. My hair felt fuller and seemed to have more volume. Will update at one month if anything great changes although I know changes can take months. I didn’t experience any irritation, which is a big plus for me since my scalp can be sensitive. The serum has a light consistency and doesn’t leave my hair feeling greasy, which I was worried about.What stood out to me was the scent; it’s pleasant but not overpowering, which I appreciate. Applying it was easy, and it quickly absorbed into my scalp, so I didn’t have to wait long before styling my hair.Overall, I think the Soapbox ProGRO Density+ Serum is worth considering if you’re looking to support your hair growth. Cant comment on effectiveness yet. But if you’re curious about giving your hair some extra love, this serum might be a good option to explore.
