A great hair mask for conditioning, but does not “repair”
Whenever I see a hair product that claims to “repair” hair, I always get excited and hopeful. My hair was seriously damaged by a chemical treatment gone very wrong and I’ve been using everything under the sun to try to fix the damage. This hair mask looked promising, being called “the ultimate repair.” It contains all the nourishing ingredients for hair health, such as keratin, hyaluronic acid, and collagen, plus super conditioners like argan and coconut oil, and sweet almond to soften and strengthen. The claims on this product are that it “targets breakage and split ends.” “Visible results from first use.” “Perfect hair repair treatment for damaged hair.” And the big seller for me: “Half the number of split ends.” I followed directions and even did the towel wrap to bring in heat. My hair was super soft, more manageable, and easier to comb, but it did nothing for my damaged ends or for the breakage I’ve been experiencing. I honestly did not see visible results from first use, or second use, or third use. This is a great moisturizing hair mask if dryness is your problem. If the claim was that it was a super hydrating and moisturizing treatment for hair, I would say fabulous, 5 stars. But there were some bold claims made and the product did not live up to those claims. Interestingly, I never bothered to research split ends and when doing so, found out that split ends, in fact, can not be repaired. They are physical breaks in the hair shaft, and the most a product can do is give the appearance of mending split hairs; but after shampooing, the split ends will again reappear. The only way to truly treat split ends is to cut them off. The claim of “half the number of split ends” is a complete farse. I would have been happy if the mask even gave the appearance of less split ends, but sadly it did not. I’m sure this would be a great hydrating conditioner for gals with generally dry, frizzy hair, but for damaged ends or breakage, this product does not live up to the claims
