Days after the Met Gala, Di Petsa was adamant that the celebrations should continue—in true Greek fashion. As such, the London-based label teamed up with Selene, a soon-to-open eatery in SoHo, to host a colossal Friday night feast.

To designer Dimitra Petsa, it was a no-brainer. “I liked the idea that this was my first Met Gala and this is their first dinner, so it’s all of the firsts,” Petsa told Vogue during cocktail hour. “Also it’s Mediterranean food on the menu—so it’s honoring my lineage and my Greek culture.”

While the cuisine conveyed brand synergy, the restaurant’s geometric interior design provided a perfect backdrop for those wearing Di Petsa’s signature, hand-draped ‘wet look’ pieces, also seen on model Ashley Graham and actress Laura Harrier days previous.

Beyond the red carpet, Petsa’s work is also heavily featured within the new Costume Art exhibit. “The Met Gala is always something that you dream of if you work in fashion and if you’re studying design. It’s like the Olympics of fashion,” Petsa added. “I studied fine art first, and then I did fashion. So the Fashion is Art theme was perfect for me. It was serendipity, in a way.”

Initial cocktail chatter began to settle into deeper discourse, as guests took their seats at the banquet. Immediately, dishes descended. Think: homemade bread and pita served with classic hummus, taramasalata, and a whipped red pepper dip, hamachi and tavraki crudos, tuna tartare, caviar-topped tiropita, grilled octopus, and Greek salad—and those were just the appetizers.

It was a harvest with bountiful conversation. “I think when you do a fashion event, it’s really nice to do a dinner. You’re nourishing people, you’re talking to people, you’re actually getting to know them,” Petsa said.

Her mission was most certainly realized—as everyone left fulfilled, fully fed, and with a new friend or two.
