With all the fuss around the flip-flop and the wedge (not to mention, the wedge flip-flop!), you might have missed the quiet comeback of an old summer favorite: the T-strap sandal. I’ve always had a soft spot for the barely-there style. A couple of years ago, I had a gold Prada pair that I wore into the ground. I promptly started borrowing my mother’s and sister’s, each a different color and finished with its own embellishment. Last year, I bought a coral pair that quickly became a go-to.
Fast-forward to this season, we’re seeing the T-strap reimagined with modern ease everywhere from Jil Sander and Toteme to Prada and Aquazzura. Some designs are rich in decorative details; others—like those at Jamie Haller, A.Emery, and Emme Parsons—lean into the simplicity of the sandal, stripping away adornment in favor of a clean, minimalist finish.
