While Madelyn Wysner and Tyler Hunt both grew up in Pensacola, Florida, they didn’t connect until an Instagram DM in 2021. At the time, Tyler was living in Scotland, and Madelyn had settled in Los Angeles. “After a few months of messaging, I was on a work trip in Paris when I finally sent the text, ‘Hey, we should FaceTime,’” says Madelyn, who is the COO and co-owner of the bridal brand Cinq. “We ended up talking until four in the morning.” She adds, “I remember hanging up and thinking, ‘I have a feeling I’m going to marry this guy.’”
When the two were both in their hometown for the holidays, Madelyn asked if he had any plans for the trip. “He replied, ‘Yeah, planning to take Madelyn Wysner out on a day date that hopefully turns into a night date through our hometown,’” she recalls. After just a few drinks at their first meeting, Tyler, who works in real estate development, convinced Madelyn to cancel her flight home and take an impromptu trip with him to New Orleans. “At 6 a.m., he was waiting outside my hotel, and we set off on the three-hour drive,” she shares. “We never turned on the radio once—we were completely absorbed in conversation. Looking back, that was the moment we started falling in love.” The couple decided to try long distance, visiting each other across the country every other weekend. “Every trip made us more certain we’d found the right person,” says Madelyn. “After two years, Tyler moved to Los Angeles, and the life we’d been building from thousands of miles apart finally began in the same city.”
On May 17, 2025, Tyler made the next move in their relationship while on a trip to the 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay in Kauai. The pair were on vacation with Madelyn’s brother-in-law, Collin, and sister, Cinq designer Macye Wysner. “On our second morning, Tyler woke me up at 6 a.m., insisting we take our coffee down to the beach to watch the sunrise together,” remembers Madelyn. “I had a feeling the proposal might happen sometime during the trip, so despite being the least enthusiastic morning person, I was out of bed in seconds.”
Tyler took Madelyn to settle in for the sunrise beneath a 100-year-old tree on the beach. However, the tree actually blocked the view of the sunrise. “Tyler had chosen the spot because it gave us a quiet corner of the beach that felt like it belonged only to us,” she says. “He was nervous in the sweetest way, but so thoughtful and intentional with every word he said. When he asked me to marry him, the world seemed to stand still for a moment.” After she said “yes” and put on an antique, old-mine cushion-cut diamond ring by Aaryah, Macye and Collin popped out from behind the tree, where they had been hiding since 5 a.m. “We laughed, cried, hugged, and then did the only thing that felt right—we ran straight into the ocean, fully clothed,” remembers Madelyn. “It remains one of the happiest mornings of my life.”
