George and Amal Clooney have perfected the art of the staycation. While they’ve been spotted enjoying glitzy dinners and events in historic villas with friends in Saint-Tropez and Capri, really, the Clooneys have spent most of the summer at their home on Lake Como. When not cloistered away in their Villa Oleandra abode, they’ve been hosting charity galas, flitting between family time and glamour.
Earlier this month, the Clooneys attended a formal evening at the historic 18th century estate Villa Passalacqua with friends. The couple wore matching whites: Amal opted for a silk white bias cut slip dress with silver sandals and a stack of gold and silver bangles. She was presented with a small bouquet of delicate flowers when she arrived on the dock, giving the look a bridal feel. Glam was signature Amal Clooney, too: her brunette, caramel highlighted hair was swept into a deep side part and worn in long, brushed out waves.
George, meanwhile, was in his typical summer attire: the actor wore an off-white t-shirt with a gray neck and hemline, white belted chinos, and soft gray-white loafers.

Amal in particular is very much in her element when dressing for Europe’s glamorous summer evenings: whether in matching Pucci sets, vintage Versace, or an archival bias cut Galliano dress. There’s usually a pair of chic oversized sunnies involved too to really channel Sophia Loren la dolce vita, and a statement accessory or shoe, like a suite of Cartier jewels or a structured and sleek clutch. Of course, Amal’s best accessory? It’s always dapper partner George.
It’s the second time in the last month that the Clooneys have enjoyed the opulent Villa Passalacqua, having hosted their own Clooney Foundation for Justice fundraiser dinner there on August 10. On that evening, Amal wore a black, floral adorned Galliano fall 2004 slip with a red crochet bucket bag, while George sported a gray suit and those same trusty loafers. The Clooneys have long perfected the art of late summer style.
