If there’s one thing Jennifer Lawrence does well—as in, other than put on Oscar-winning performances, make clangers funny enough to get Jonathan Anderson belly laughing, or galvanise an audience of over 3 million when she finally joined Instagram—it’s knowing how to style herself season to season.
In summer, it’s all about La Ligne and Leset tanks and pants, jorts, slip skirts toughened up with graphic tees and novelty caps, and a prize vintage Prada or Fendi bag. Airy fabrics, a pop of color. In the fall and winter seasons, she deftly layers and ushers in a spectrum of textures: think skirt-trousers that add interest to classic silhouettes, luxe knits, and outerwear from Scandi brands like By Malene Birger.
But it’s in those in-between periods that Jennifer Lawrence really shines. Styling for Transeasonal weather can get tough—warm in the sun, chillier in the shade, rain threatening. How does one stay true to your personal style when the climate can be so capricious?
So, here comes J-Law. The actor was photographed out and about yesterday in New York City wearing a relaxed teal colored sweater, cuffs rolled up. The knit was luxe but sinewy enough to not appear too heavy. A pop of color, too, is a Lawrence signature, and this particular shade of blue looks set to continue from our summer palettes into fall. Plus, her freshly cut butterfly bangs.
Underneath, she wore a pearl slip that hit at the knee, and brown Sperry boat shoes—a style of footwear primed for the transitional months. For accessories, a croc Hermès handbag (open at the clasp as seems to be the trend), a knotted gold necklace, and black sunglasses. Her almost rusty blonde hair and soft bangs were styled naturally straight.
A pop of teal is a go-to for J Law.

Statement bottoms, too, work well from summer to fall.

What’s great about this look is how directional yet easy and totally wearable it is. Accessories make it feel thoughtful without trying too hard. A J Law classic.
