Lily-Rose Depp knows the power of a load-bearing shoe.
For a lunch outing at the Beverly Hills Hotel yesterday, Depp was the portrait of a lady in a knee-length black dress, worn with sheer black hosiery and a tan suede Chanel shoulder bag. But the actor’s statement-making shoe added a zing to an otherwise classic look.
Depp finished off her outfit with a pink satin pump. With its low heel, rounded toe, and high vamp—plus its vibrant bubblegum hue—the shoe offered a touch of ’80s glam to her otherwise businesslike look.

Depp isn’t the only one to embrace the pink power shoe recently. In June, just ahead of the release of her latest album, Music, Fashion, Film, Charli XCX adopted the same outfit formula: an LBD and a candy-hued shoe. Still, Charli took a different approach than Depp, opting for a mid-thigh hemline and a pointy-toe pump.
It just goes to show that, while the ’80s may be creeping back into style, you needn’t abandon your style to fit the trend. Just look at Lily-Rose Depp and Charli XCX, who both incorporated the decade’s maximalist leanings into their wardrobes in authentic ways. So keep your LBDs, but next time, consider a wild pink pump instead of a classic black ballet flat.
