New York Fashion Week’s Spring Summer 2027 shows had a level of energy that had even the most low-key attendees joining in its party spirit. Show goers and editors alike could be seen jumping into Carly Rae Jepsen’s Collina Strada dance party at Storm King, twirling down Imitation of Christ’s interactive runway, bopping to Slayyyter’s Tommy Hilfiger performance at The Plaza, gathering in Tribeca’s favorite alleyway for Kim Shui, toasting cocktails at Coach, and winning beer pong matches at Eckhaus Latta’s afterparty with J. Crew. It was a time for celebration.

As Vogue editors dispersed to report on the beauty looks, there were unmistakable moments, like the buggy bowlcuts that James Pecis delivered for Thom Browne, the canary yellow lids by Dick Page painted at Proenza, and two totally different hair crimps from Joey George and Lacy Redway brought to Area and Christian Siriano, respectively. Still, 3 trends that we saw nearly everywhere may be even easier to recreate as fashion month continues in London, Milan, and Paris.

Below, Vogue Beauty’s SS27 NYFW trend report:

    Low Ponies

No longer just for “little lads,” as Vogue’s Senior Beauty and Wellness editor Margaux Anbouba writes, the low ponytail was the top-tapped style of the entire week in New York. Karim Belghiran secured the look with an “infinite knot” held by Tresemmé at Cult Gaia, George created “The Fold” at TWP, Guido Palau used just an elastic at Tory Burch, and Antoinette Beenders created a “coil pony” of curls prepped with Aveda All-for-One Leave-In Elixir backstage at Maria McManus’s art studio presentation. For Zankov, hair coated in Mr. Smith Mousse was “pulled into graphic low ponytails” according to hair artist Freda Rossidis, and at Lii, Tamara McNaughton kept things simple with a chill slack-back into a low elastic. From goddess-y texture to stick-straight lengths, it’s time to experiment at home to see if we can pull it off—off the runway.
