Daisy Edgar-Jones is bringing method dressing Down Under.
Over the course of her globe-spanning Sense and Sensibility press tour, the actor and her stylist, Dani Michelle, have put their stamp on Austen-inspired dressing. “We’ve tried to thread every look back to her character and the time period, searching for corsetry, lace, puffed silks, florals and brocade,” Edgar-Jones told British Vogue at the film’s London premiere.

While the story is set in the early Regency Era, Edgar-Jones and Michelle aren’t wedded to the fashions of the period (empire waists, flowing silhouettes, open necklines); rather, letting them loosely inform the actor’s red carpet looks.
Her most recent look does just that. For the Sydney premiere, Edgar-Jones wore a sheer nude gown embroidered with clusters of silver sequins. Over the dress, she wore a loosely tied corset, also highly embellished. While Sense and Sensibility doesn’t exactly feature naked dressing, Edgar-Jones’s corsetry was more in line with the period: as opposed to the waist-snatching Victorian look, women of the Regency Era wore short stays with looser ties underneath their flowing, Grecian-inspired dresses.
