Gwyneth Paltrow has a temporary new job at Astronomer.
Who better to respond to a corporate cheating scandal than the ex-wife of the frontman of the band that was playing a show when the company’s CEO was seemingly caught cheating on his wife with the head of HR on the concert kiss-cam? Honestly, no one.
That’s why Astronomer tapped Paltrow to answer the internet’s burning questions after their CEO Andy Byron and chief people officer Kristin Cabot were filmed embracing—then panicking—at a Coldplay concert earlier this month. As frontman Chris Martin said at the time, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re very shy.”
The moment went absolutely viral and both parties—who are married to other people—have since resigned from Astronomer. Now, it’s time for the small tech company to put their best foot forward after becoming a “household name” overnight…with some help from Martin’s ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow.
“Thank you for your interest in astronomer. Hi, I’m Gwyneth Paltrow. I’ve been hired on a very temporary basis to speak on behalf of the 300 plus employees at Astronomer,” she said in a new video shared by Astronomer on July 25. “Astronomer has gotten a lot of questions over the last few days, and they wanted me to answer the most common ones.”
Hilariously, Paltrow did not, in fact, answer the most common questions, including “OMG! What the actual f?” and “How is your social media team holding up?” Instead, she explained that Astronomer is “the best place to run Apache Airflow,” a data workflow automation platform.
Of course, many internet users were delighted by the tongue-in-cheek response video from the queen of “conscious uncoupling” herself, so I’d wager the social media team is holding up just fine today.
