Hugh and Olivia Grosvenor, the Duke and Duchess of Westminster, have welcomed a baby daughter named Cosima Florence Grosvenor on July 27—and some royal fans are predicting that Prince William might be named her godfather.
“Both the Duchess and Cosima are doing well,” read a statement given to People following the birth. “The Duke and Duchess now look forward to spending this special time together as a family.”
Hugh and Olivia Grosvenor were married in 2024.

William and Hugh are old family friends—and a long tradition of godparents runs between their families. King Charles is Hugh’s godfather, while Hugh’s father, Gerald Grosvenor, was once a mentor for Prince William. William asked Hugh to be his eldest son, Prince George’s, godfather, and Prince Harry also asked Hugh to take on the role for his son, Prince Archie.
Hugh was present for William and Harry’s weddings, while William served as an usher at Hugh and Olivia’s wedding last year. Sadly, Harry wasn’t able to attend. In April of this year, William reunited with the Grosvenor’s at a soccer game.

William’s own godfather was King Constantine of Greece, who died last year. William pulled out of the memorial service, reportedly because of his father’s cancer diagnosis.
William is already a godfather. In 1999, a then-16-year-old William was named the godfather of Prince Constantine-Alexios of Greece, the grandson of King Constantine.
William and the Grosvenor recently attended a soccer game together.
