Kate Middleton and Prince William Are Apparently Looking to Move

• Prince William and Kate Middleton are reportedly looking to move again, three years after relocating their family of five from Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace in London to the more secluded Adelaide Cottage, a four-bedroom home on the Windsor Estate.
• On the table is a “magnificent gothic revival mansion” called Fort Belvedere, The Daily Mail reported.
• The home features amenities like a tennis court, a private outdoor swimming pool, a rose garden, a greenhouse, private stables, and three staff cottages.

Just about three years ago exactly, the Wales family of five—then the Cambridges—relocated from their home at Kensington Palace in London to the four-bedroom Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor Estate. If buzz is to be believed, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their kids Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis are considering another move—this time to a “magnificent gothic revival mansion.”

Fort Belvedere, The Daily Mail reported, is “nestled in a hidden corner of Windsor Great Park” and sits on 59 acres. The home has a tennis court, a private outdoor swimming pool, a rose garden, a greenhouse, private stables, multiple (!) lakes, and three staff cottages. The 18th century home is also the reported favorite home of Edward VIII—and where he lived after he abdicated the throne to marry Wallis Simpson.

The Daily Mail reported that the more modest Adelaide Cottage was never going to be the family of five’s forever home, and that the Prince and Princess of Wales “feel they have outgrown Adelaide Cottage and need somewhere more substantial,” a source said. “This is the perfect new home for them. It has a swimming pool and tennis court, and Charlotte loves playing tennis.”

The Daily Mail reported that Fort Belvedere is one of the options on the table for William and Kate, and added that “no move is imminent.” Prior homes that the Prince and Princess of Wales were thought to be interested in included Royal Lodge—the 30-room mansion where Prince Andrew currently lives with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson—but “Andrew resisted pressure from the King [Charles] to leave.” The couple also apparently considered moving into a wing of Windsor Castle, but “that is also understood to no longer be viable,” the outlet reported.

The publication added that “Insiders say a move to a more substantial property would mark a new chapter for their family” a year after Kate spent most of 2024 inside the walls of Adelaide Cottage as she continued cancer treatment, which ended last September.
