The Garment’s Charlotte Eskildsen is one of a number of Danes who are horse obsessed this season. Not a rider herself, the designer chose the stunning Christiansborg Ridebane, the royal stables at Christiansborg Palace which date to 1740, as the show’s location. The collection’s palette—beige, terra cotta, gray, white, and pink—complemented the vaulted stone arches under which the models walked.
Spring’s offering tied together many ideas that Eskildsen has been working on for some time. The lush drapes she introduced for spring 2025 were back, as were the back-tied tops of pre-fall 2025. The designer also carried over the deconstructed suits that were a highlight of her recent resort collection. (The back of a coat might have a pants pocket detail, for example.) Things got off to a strong start with smart but casual tailoring—jackets and pants—some worn with blouses with pretty trailing scarves. A brown suede minidress and double-breasted blazers paired with leggings and riding boots referenced the show location.
Eskildsen, who worked a lot with cotton, said she was trying to evoke the feeling and sound of just-washed sheets and this came through in a crisp paper bag waisted skirt and wide-legged pajama-style pants. The broderie anglaise pieces took things in a twee direction; the hand-crocheted dresses, inspired by vintage finds in France, looked fussy and decorative next to the cool-girl tailoring. But flats with crochet details on the straps and masculine shoes and riding boots grounded the collection and allowed the models to proceed easily at a nice trot.
