Fourteen years after the release of Grace Coddington’s first, revelatory memoir, Grace—the story of her path from the wet, gray wilds of Anglesey, Wales, into the heady thrall of London in the Swinging Sixties, and later onto the mastheads of British and then American Vogue—the longtime Vogue creative director has another major book on the way.
Following Grace: The American Vogue Years (2015) and Grace: Thirty Years of Fashion at Vogue (2016), two sumptuous collaborations with Phaidon, this October Coddington will publish Grace: Now, a celebration of her work with 13 master photographers (and photographic duos)—Mert & Marcus, Arthur Elgort, Jamie Hawkesworth, Steven Klein, Inez & Vinoodh, Annie Leibovitz, Peter Lindbergh, Craig McDean, Steven Meisel, Rafael Pavarotti, Paolo Roversi, Karim Sadli, and David Sims—over the last decade.
Naturally, many of the stories included therein were plucked from Vogue’s pages. Among them are Lindbergh’s “Wildest Dreams” (July 2019), featuring the Polish actor Tomasz Kot of Paweł Pawlikowski’s gorgeous Cold War and model Rianne Van Rompaey, her hair high and mighty, in the California desert; “People in the Sun” (December 2023), Leibovitz’s paean to Edward and Josephine “Jo” Hopper starring Maya Hawke and a band of contemporary artists; and Emma Stone’s playful September 2025 cover story, shot by Jamie Hawkesworth at the Palais des Papes in Avignon. Others come from her work for the likes of British Vogue, Vogue Italia, W, and Document Journal.
Adding to this gorgeous tapestry are introductions and commentaries from some of the editors, designers, models, and stars who have peopled Coddington’s creative universe, including Anna Wintour, Sara Moonves, Edward Enninful, Billy Norwich, Marc Jacobs, Nicolas Ghesquière, Sofia Coppola, Mia Goth, and Elle Fanning, as well as touching reminiscences from Coddington herself, beginning with an extended, handwritten tribute to the late Michael Roberts.
