It fits the dress code of the night, if you think about it. Fashion Is Art explores the intersection of clothing, the body, and artistic expression, and the light feminine shade could be read as a flesh-like tone or a nod to the kind of romantic shades often associated with art, depending on your view. Petal pink is also a trending color that’s been our radars since it showed up on the spring runways of designers like Tory Burch, Zimmermann, and Louis Vuitton, and others.
The night began with Angela Bassett stepping onto the red carpet wearing Prabal Gurung. While not quite petal pink, the bright colored hue of her dress references the portrait “Girl in Pink Dress”—so clearly, she understood the assignment. Pink wasn’t just a dress trend, either. For every star wearing a pink dress, there were even more in soft pink blush and ballet slipper lips. Blackpink’s Jisoo, for example, matched her floral sequin Dior dress with pastel pink on her cheeks.
