I’m not usually a workout set lady, in fact, it wasn’t until the pandemic when I got used to wearing leggings or biker shorts outside comfortably. While I’m still building out this part of my wardrobe, I was very pleasantly thrilled to test this bra and biker short combo out. The material is stretchy and flexible, but not thin. The shape flatters the body, too, and did a great job of hugging my curves without making it impossible for me to breathe. Final thoughts
Beyond Yoga has been a mainstay in my closet, and after testing from other Glamour editors, we can’t recommend them enough. The price point is under $100, and there’s usually a sale going on that brings it down even more. The brand offers free shipping and returns, and it’s also widely available at Amazon for faster delivery. In fact, they’re one of our favorite Amazon leggings and workout sets. We appreciate the wide variety of colors to choose from which makes it easy to have a default uniform that can take you from Pilates class to brunch with friends. The breathable, soft fabric passed our squat test (it’s not see through), and it’s moisture-wicking enough for hot workout classes. While it’s great for low-impact activities like yoga, barre, and strength training, you might need more support for things like running and CrossFit training. We like that sizes go up to XXL but for more size inclusivity up to size 6XL would be ideal. Overall, our editors are fans of the stretchy material that hits that Goldilocks feel of secure but not too compressive, functional yet stylish design, and wide color range. They’ve easily become our go-to workout sets.
How we tested
The right activewear can last you for years, which is why our editors take the time to test every piece we recommend. For Glamour’s testing, we wore Beyond Yoga leggings with matching tank for about a month. We wore it to workout classes, lounging at home, traveling, and more. When reviewing we considered the following criteria:
- Waistband fit and comfort: We check to see if the leggings feel secure on our waists when performing our particular activity, noting if they slip or dig into the skin.
- Fabric quality: We evaluate whether the fabric is moisture-wicking enough when sweating, and if wet, check to see if it dries quickly. We also do a squat test by putting on the leggings, bending into a deep squat near a mirror, and checking whether the material around our glutes remains opaque. After each wear, we check if they held up well after washing. Is the fabric still soft to the touch? Was there any pilling?
- Length and inseam: Our testers are all different heights and sizes. We noted if the length and inseam were comfortable for our specific frames.
- Putting on and taking off: We noted if we heard any ripping seams when pulling them on or off, especially after a particular sweaty workout.
- Fit: We noted if we found ourselves constantly pulling up or adjusting leggings during a workout. Did they stay in place during our workout? Did they make us feel motivated to work out, or were they distracting?
