Just when you thought it was over, Zendaya is back out on the press tour trot. But not as you know it.
The actor—whose movie The Odyssey dropped this week and whose next feature, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, arrives the following—is picking up the latter’s promotional commitments. Her latest look defies both the current New York heatwave and what we’ve come to expect of her fashions so far—less fantastical world of Marvel or the Bronze Age, more Danny Zuko.
Yesterday, Zendaya stepped out in New York in a head-to-toe leather look, heatwave be damned: a shiny, boxy shouldered blazer and gathered-leg, pooling cigarette pants, paired with a pointed pump and white t-shirt. Jewelry, of course, included her Jessica McCormack engagement ring from husband and Spider-Man co-star Tom Holland and wedding band.
She was also sporting a new hairstyle: a wavy, side swept bob. This follows her cropped and coiffed bixie cut and extra-long, flowing hair extensions fashioned into Greek Goddess-style braids.

It’s a marked departure from the ethereal, Athena-incarnate looks Zendaya was wearing throughout the promotion of The Odyssey, which saw stylist Law Roach sweep the archives for sculptural McQueen-era Givenchy headpieces and put her in custom drapey Jacquemus and angel-winged Matières Fécales. A Christian Louboutin pump is the only carry-through, in an otherwise delight and surprise-filled style run.
This latest look is even quite different from what we saw during Spider-Man promo, which referenced the Marvel universe color palette and had Z in cobwebbed Galliano archive, sparkly Versace, and an oversized vintage merch tee from eBay. The spidey spectrum proves boundless for whatever look Roach is scheming up next.
A rare moment between press tour commitments.
