These last few days of August tend to be a swan song for the burning embers of summer—but this week’s best dressed stars proved they’re not ready to put the season to rest just yet. Easy-breezy, summery frocks reigned supreme on the red carpets, though A-listers were divided on their approaches: Some stars opted for sleek minimalism, while others went all-in on theatrical maximalism.

Those on team minimalism? Model (and Vogue cover star) Kaia Gerber stepped out at the 2026 U.S. Open wearing a sleek, bodycon LBD from Yana Matkivski. In Paris, Celine Dion—who will be performing a set of shows there in September—donned a chic Alaïa trench coat-dress with elegant draping. Naturally, when a legend like Dion emerges, a huge crowd of fans will form. And as the rapturous applause and screaming showed, such stealthy-chic designs, with small details and a sharp silhouette, still have maximum impact.

There were also stars who leaned into opulence this week, too. At the Practical Magic 2 premiere in London, for one, leads Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman went full movie star—Bullock in a leopard-printed Givenchy strapless number from Sarah Burton, and Kidman in a custom icy-blue sequin Chanel dress with chain detailing. The looks may not have been witchy—method dressing, who?—but they were fabulous nonetheless. Equally as exquisite, were their co-stars Maisie Williams and Joey King, who have been delivering enchanting press tour looks, too.

Which were your favorite celebrity looks this week? Vote below, and check back on Friday to see who Vogue readers crowned best dressed.
