It’s happening. Fall is upon us. Jennifer Lopez is more than ready.
While we’re saying goodbye to thong sandals and Jane Birkin-esque mini-dresses, it’s hello to boots, jeans, and light layers. Now’s the season to really start dressing and accessorizing, sans the layer of sweat and sunscreen. Lopez is very much at the peak of her powers in the summertime; her Italian vacation wardrobe was defined by easy-breezy linen dresses, swirling kaftans, XXL sun hats and bandanas—but don’t count J-Lo out when it comes to autumn style.
The pop star and actor was spotted yesterday in New York City having a meal at Dante, where she was embracing the cooling temperatures with some smart, simple layering techniques. Lopez wore a duck egg blue sweatshirt with ruffled raw hems around the arms, which she styled rolled up at the cuffs and tucked in at the waist, leaving the sweatshirt to arpeggiate down her back. Underneath, a crisp white button-down shirt, and on the bottom, a pair of ’70s-esque, wide-leg jeans cinched with a belt and black mesh mules. For accessories, she toted a woven Bottega Veneta clutch and sported some signature oversized Bottega aviators, as well as a watch and a stack of diamond bracelets.
The look—where a much more casual top is elevated using directional details—is very much a carry-over from a summer of styled up schlubby tees and vintage slogan shirts. See the likes of Jennifer Lawrence and Zendaya, who delicately contrasted oversized t-shirts with slip-skirts, tailoring, and surprising footwear.

And as Jennifer Lopez proves, cooler temperatures create an opportunity to get really detailed with your looks. In fall seasons gone by, J-Lo has shown herself to be an expert layer-er, whether in sculptural coats or chunky knit turtlenecks paired with bold, gold hoop earrings.
What’s more? Some fall manicure inspo from J-Lo’s go-to nail artist Tom Bachik soon comes.
