For the past few seasons, Veronica Beard has been dipping its toe back into femininity, first with prairie-ready pieces, then ladylike tweed skirt suits. Now, spring 2027—dubbed “The Secret Garden”—pushes the femme agenda to its furthest point yet. “We’re really leaning back into a lot of mega femininity season,” declared Veronica Swanson Beard. “It’s easier and more fluid. You’ll see a lot of translucent things, cutouts in the lace, softer linens, and Lucite jewelry.”
For Swanson Beard and her sister-in-law, Veronica Miele Beard, that also meant florals galore. The Veronicas clearly had fun playing with the motif of the season, multicolored flowers on a creeping vine, which they rendered in a silk scarf top, a beaded bag (sure to be a hot commodity among wedding guests), and a sequined two-piece set. But while florals for spring are famously reliable, the Veronicas stepped outside the obvious choices. Their chosen motif was at its best as a blurry, watercolor-esque print on a boxy, slightly utilitarian jacket and splashed against a grungier black floral jacquard maxi dress.
While femininity reigned supreme this season, it wasn’t all about skirts and dresses. Always fond of novelty denim, the sisters-in-law opted for a floaty trompe l’oeil interpretation this time around, producing a shiny mirror organza take on a chambray shirt and jeans. They applied the same diaphanous brief to a black set, and also tried their hands at a white blazer with coordinating Bermuda shorts.
Matching sets were the heroes, be it a cropped nude jacket and matching pencil skirt rendered in an oversized floral lace or a boudoir-y teal lace-trimmed tank top over satin pants. But the highlight was a dainty pink, white, and green gradient pointelle set—a bohemian bell-sleeve top and midi skirt. They credited the look to one of their interns from the Veronica Beard x CFDA Creative Futures Scholarship. This is the second consecutive year that the brand has offered four college juniors a summer internship, plus $50,000 to fund their independent design careers, and they are committed to two more years of the program. While the Veronicas are keen to help the next generation of designers kickstart their careers, they also wisely injected some of that Gen Z POV into their own offering.
