Sometimes, recreational pastimes grow in popularity right alongside their corresponding fashion. Take the sport of polo and horse girl fashion, for example. We’ve come to associate the game with the upper echelons who played it. And the designers who dressed the players and spectators—Ralph Lauren and Hermès, to name a few—created a world of desire through the boots and cable-knits they designed. Now, the style has become so mass that being part of a polo team or owning a horse at a stable no longer matters. Fashion icons like Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and Bella Hadid proudly introduce their mares in magazines and on social, and we, too, become inspired to dress the part.
Horse-girl fashion has grown in popularity beyond the stables, with more and more designers incorporating aspects of equestrian style in their collections. The fall 2026 trend was already present at last year’s Brandon Maxwell show, where bolo ties, tasseled tops, and cowboy prints made their way down the runway. Stella McCartney hosted her fall/winter 2026 show at a riding hall in Paris, and Altuzarra’s collection felt like a love letter to shearling jackets and plaid skirts—perfect for a former horse girl with a high-powered career.

Last season, we saw a rise in fringe-embellished bags, suede jackets, and riding-friendly pants, particularly across the pond in Copenhagen. The Garment’s spring collection included equestrian staples like knee-high boots, elevated leggings, and gloves and other ensembles that could have gone right to a dressage show.
