As usual, Yara Flinn dreamed up a spring collection with the perfect mix of sexy and sporty. “I just love that everything this season is so easy; it’s almost athletic, in a way,” said the designer, whose personal style is very much reflected by her brand.
While Flinn’s Nomia collections remain consistent over the seasons—think easy dresses and sporty pants—this time out the designer wanted to try “pushing boundaries,” she said. “I started experimenting with how I could make my own fabric in a sense.” The result was a nylon bonded with a lace underlay that provided a rigid structural look to her garments. With this new technique, she created her usual track jackets in fun spring colorways but also experimented with a more structured midiskirt to add some dimension.
One of the collection’s best looks was the classic suit that Flinn changed into right before her showroom appointment. While it certainly helps that the designer possesses a modelesque build, the craftsmanship and quality would make it worth the purchase for anyone in need of some new tailoring for spring.
