Shanghai Fashion Week (SHFW) is betting on a more connected fashion ecosystem as it unveils its Spring/Summer 2027 schedule. The upcoming edition, running from October 8-16, will feature more than 80 runway shows and presentations across the city.
The designer schedule remains anchored by Shanghai’s independent fashion scene. Chinese designer brand Hemu will open the week on October 8, marking its 15th SHFW appearance. Established names including Xiaoli, Staffonly, Comme Moi, Shuting Qiu and Short Sentence will return, alongside a younger generation of independent labels.

The underlying message from organizers is straightforward: “local is international”. For this edition, that increasingly means combining Chinese creative talent and global fashion businesses in the same commercial ecosystem, rather than measuring success by the number of foreign names on the calendar.
That shift is particularly visible in the growing role of Chinese designers within major domestic companies. On October 11, Chinese sportswear giant Anta will announce the next phase of its partnership with designer Chen Peng, with the collaboration also featuring during SHFW. This relationship points to a broader move towards longer-term creative partnerships with Chinese design talent rather than seasonal collaborations.
Adidas will also take a bigger role this season. The sportswear company will stage a four-day program combining industry and consumer-facing events from October 15-18, including a show featuring China-designed products, its Classic line and Y-3, followed by exhibitions and interactive experiences.
The SS27 season will also see the return of some bigger names. As Chinese designers build international careers, Shanghai is increasingly becoming not only a launchpad but also a place to return to, offering access to local consumers, media and commercial partners. Shanghai-founded label Pronounce, which has built a presence in Milan, will return home on October 11 to present its first-ever womenswear line, as it marks its 10th anniversary.
