At the VMAs, Dakota Johnson went all out with a very ’50s-style tomato-red manicure that will undoubtedly become a trend in the coming months. It was a subtle way to add a pop of color to her white Valentino gown, which she wore to present the Artist Director award to her friend Taylor Swift.
We’d be willing to bet that this particular red is going to be the big trend for fall-winter 2026. After all, Johnson’s own manicurist, Ashlie Johnson, previously told Allure that bright reds with a slightly orange undertone (also known as tomato red) can bring life to a manicure. “Unlike reds with blue undertones, which can make veins stand out, these are very flattering,” she told the publication.
