“Re: Reseen/Reworn/Relove,” Maccapani’s spring 2027 collection, was not new in the conventional sense. Rather, it was an exercise in giving new life to what already exists. Since the beginning of the project, Margherita Maccapani Missoni has explored different ways of embracing sustainability in all its forms. This time, with the aim of creating a wardrobe that is both real and realistic, she did so by giving new life to what was already there. “I wanted certain pieces to exist again, and this gave me the freedom to let go and rediscover sides of my aesthetic that I had set aside in order to build the recognizability of the brand,” she said.
Nothing reflects Maccapani’s identity quite like jersey jacquard, and there is little the designer likes more than the combination of different prints. With her instinct for mix and match, she introduced striped knitwear and floral prints in jersey organzine, as well as a denim yarn into her signature jersey jacquard, used for jeans, overshirts and her Comfy Corset. Among the other new additions were city beachwear, designed to be worn as outerwear too: the stretch mesh already present in the brand’s collections was reworked into bikinis, one-piece swimsuits and shirt dresses, to be worn with trousers in the same fabric—first presented in previous seasons—for a new look.
With Maccapani, the designer has always wanted to make clothes that are spaces to inhabit. Following the same idea, she has created a space in which her clothes can live. At the boutique at 26 Via Leopardi in Milan, the collection coexists with a selection of vintage pieces from her archive and a selection of jewelry curated by Manuel Menini, founder of Vincent Vintage Bijoux. Following the same philosophy, she has introduced a Customwear Corner, giving clients the opportunity to personalize jacquard pieces, both new and previously purchased, with trims, antique buttons or patches.
