Chartreuse is not a color for the faint of heart. Sitting somewhere in the acidic hinterland between yellow and green, it can be tricky enough on a manicure, let alone a red carpet gown. Florence Pugh, however, has never been particularly interested in taking the easy route.
For the New York premiere of Netflix’s East of Eden, the actor arrived in a dramatic custom Harris Reed gown that made an unexpected case for the divisive shade. Styled, as ever, by Rebecca Corbin-Murray, Pugh wore a sculpted, plunging bodice with a zip front and black and silver detailing, from which a pair of heightened chartreuse sleeves rose dramatically around her shoulders. A metallic silver silk skirt spilled into a train below, amping up the yellow-green shade further. (Pugh and Reed are close friends, with the actor opening the designer’s fall 2025 show at London Fashion Week.)
It was bombshell dressing through a distinctly Florence Pugh lens, with a nod to the period drama she’s starring in. Chartreuse is offset with the cooler silver, amped up with the precious metals. Gold, silver, and diamond Bulgari jewelry, including a choker and a smattering of rings, added to the high-shine effect.
