Get-away-from-it-all vacations don’t get much better than this: Mill Island is home to just three properties (ask the host if you’d like to book all three), as well as the UK’s oldest brass mill. Inside, it’s a little bit rustic (timber paneling, sheepskin-style throws, chunky woven rugs) and a little bit romantic (a deep burgundy and emerald bedroom is complemented with a roll-top copper bath).
Less than 30 minutes by car to both Bath and Bristol, there’s plenty to keep all ages entertained, but perhaps the best thing to do is to enjoy the tranquility of the home’s river views before venturing out for dinner in a nearby pub. Don’t be put off by the name—while a stay here at Christmas would be delightful, it’s equally wonderful at any time of year.
