When Nicole noted the dedicated group of friends and customers who go to all of Ackermann’s shows—Tilda Swinton among them—he replied: “I do believe in loyalty. I’m very loyal to all my exes. I don’t know how to dis-love once I have loved.”
Ackermann will soon be off to Chile to go kayaking amid the glaciers. He travels all around the globe, but has a particular affinity for remote places where his cellphone has no service. “It is perhaps in search of silence. When you go very far away and lose yourself and feel so small against Mother Nature, you’re suddenly much closer to yourself,” he reflected.
