Kim Kardashian is becoming a bona fide vintage hound. Since the reality star hired stylist Law Roach earlier this year, the pair have scoured archives from Tom Ford’s Yves Saint Laurent to Cristóbal’s Balenciaga. Kardashian’s longtime friend Olivier Rousteing even tossed her the keys to the Paco Rabanne archives for her birthday, lending her two chainmail minis from fall 1995 haute couture for her birthday dinner.

Today, amid her All’s Fair season 2 press bonanza, Kim Kardashian added yet another piece to her impressive vintage collection: a burgundy open-knit minidress with needlepoint rose motifs on the skirt—look 15 from Dolce & Gabbana’s fall 1997 collection.
Kardashian abided by some of the original 1997 styling, wearing the see-through dress over a black balconette bra and white skirt, but she made the look distinctly her own. Kardashian took the grungy (or, at least, grungy for Dolce) look in a sexier direction, opting to ditch the scalloped slip skirt for a tighter white underskirt, and eschewing the kooky black stockings with floral embroidery and glittery heels for a pair of PVC Gianvito Rossi mules.
Kardashian is wont to make things her own—after all, she is adding a new chapter to the garment’s history. But as she delves deeper into fashion history, it would be nice to see her go full throttle fashion girl and wear the full look—kooky tights and all.
