Key Takeaways
- Leslie Bibb told Byrdie all about her getting ready process and beauty philosophy while attending the Venice International Film Festival with Armani Beauty.
- She paired her iconic haircut with an ethereal makeup look that matched her “dazzling, gorgeous” gown.
Among plenty of other accomplishments, Leslie Bibb will go down in history as the face of the c*nty little bob, one of this fall’s biggest hair trends.
It’s great advice and inspiration. (Some of the best, even, according to her hairstylist, the legendary Chris McMillan.) But she has more to offer in the beauty wisdom department!! On Friday, August 30, Bibb attended the premiere of Frankenstein at the 82nd annual Venice International Film Festival with Armani Beauty, and told Byrdie all about her getting ready process.
Ahead, discover the details behind Bibb’s hand-beaded gown, favorite products, and beauty philosophy… or lack therof, in her own words.

The Dress
“I am wearing the most special, the most dazzling, gorgeous, hand-beaded Giorgio Armani Prive gown. When Jeanann Williams, my stylist, pulled it off the rack we sort of gasped. The beading is bananas. The dress is quite heavy because of all the stones and beading, but it also has this lightness to it, too. I’m just obsessed with it.”

Her Makeup Inspiration
“Rachel Goodwin, my makeup artist, got very inspired by the iridescent tones of all the beading in the dress. She wanted to play with the light pinks and reds and purples and silver tones in the beading of the gown to create something very ethereal but still very modern.”
The Getting Ready Process
“My getting ready process starts with hair and makeup. In this case, [my hairstylist] Laini Reeves and Rachel looked at the dress and they sort of brainstormed together—because the hair and makeup have to work together. I have been working with my team for a long time so we all have a shorthand with each other, and that always makes the process easy.”

How They Got the Look
“Rachel loves glowy, dewy, illuminated skin with blush-y cheeks. Because we did more of an eye look, we kept the lips more neutral. She used the iconic Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Foundation and then Cheek Tint Blush. The great thing about Luminous Silk is it’s a buildable product. It’s just so light and, perfectly named, luminous that your skin always looks natural and radiant.”
(Besides the Luminous Silk Foundation (shade 5.2!) and blush (they used 53S, a bright, cool pink), Bibb’s complexion lineup included Luminous Silk Concealer in shade 5 and Luminous Silk Glow Setting Powder in shade 4.
On Bibb’s eyes, Goodwin applied Eye Tint Long-Lasting Liquid Eyeshadow in shade 67S, Vertigo Lift Mascara, and the Smooth Silk Eye Pencil. Her lips featured the Lip Power Lipstick in 104, a medium beige-mauve shade.)

Her Beauty Philosophy
“I don’t know if it’s a philosophy, but when it comes to events it’s all about my hair and makeup team. I don’t love looking at myself and I can be my own worst critic, so I really trust their vision and their aesthetic. Also, I need fun energy around me when we are getting ready for a big night, so when we get ready there is usually a lot of laughter and its chill.”
“As for every day, I like to take care of my skin. It’s the only one I have, so I am fanatical about getting facials, wearing SPF, using products my skin likes, and just taking care of myself and my skin in general.”

The Most Important Part In Her Beauty Routine
“I want my skin to look and feel natural. I think, for me, the most important step in my beauty routine is to have a glowing base that is natural and feels light, but [also] feels bright and radiant. I’m not a fan of heavy makeup. I think women look so beautiful when their skin is fresh and bright, then throw in a pop of color on your cheeks or a bold lip. I love a bold lip. But I do feel you have to pick one or the other. It’s a hat on a hat if you do both.”

How She Starts Her Day
“I always start off my day with water, a coffee, and a bit of exercise. If I’m shooting, a big bowl of ice water for my face. If I have an event then I do it right before my hair and makeup gets there. And I even now I started traveling with my own bowl (it’s a big mixing bowl) so I can always make a face ice plunge. And if your heels kill your feet at the end of the night, you could soak a foot in it too.”
How She Gets Un-Ready
“Washing my face and brushing my teeth! My mama always said no matter what kind of a night you’ve had, how tired you are, what state you’re in, do those two things. I do them religiously.”
“After washing my face I also always do all my lotions and potions regimen.”
