Key Takeaways
- Selena Gomez wore a textured 3D manicure for a recent photo shoot.
- Her nail artist, Tom Bachik, explained how they made the look—which he called a “Touchable Texture Mani”—happen.
Selena Gomez knows a thing or two about being rare. She has a song about it, not to mention a beauty empire that uses the adjective as its calling card.
For her most recent moment of inspiring individualism, the 33-year-old decided to rock a gold textured manicure that’s much different than the single-toned, single-finish sets that her peers (ie. other taste-making celebs) have been loving.
Don’t get me wrong—all those milky nails are lovely. But 3D chrome deserves some extra special attention! It’s a set worthy of a cover shoot starring the rarest of rare celebs.

Over the weekend, Gomez’s go-to manicurist, Tom Bachik, shared an Instagram post explaining how he made her Allure September cover shoot nails—he called the look a “Touchable Texture Mani”—happen. Her medium-long, soft almond-shaped nails were painted an ethereal, soft mauve-y nude shade and affixed with artistic 3D chrome swirls.
Per usual, the artist started the nail art session with his go-to Tweezerman tools “for the perfect mani base.” After shaping her natural nails to perfection, he added some Gel-X tips for length. They went with a coffin shape, which Bachik quickly transformed into his (and thus Gomez’s) signature style.
“Sel’s base color is Aprés Nails’ Gel Couleur in Forgotten Film,” he explained in his post. “We added gold [and] 3D chrome on top to give her a touchable texture look.”
Lastly, they finished things off with his very own Click Colors polish pen in Super Clear.

How to Get the Look
While I’m sure your nail art skills are impressive (maybe even rare!), this is a set that might work best with a professional’s touch. Gel-X tips transformed to a signature shape is enough to make me put down the polish, at least.
If you don’t feel like heading to the salon, you could also grab some press ons. Glamnetic’s I Am A Rich Man? set isn’t an exact match, but it can give you a similar vibe. Then, your only job is to copy that perfect ombré red lip she wore for the shoot.
