Our Fashion & Beauty Essentials for Fall 2025

While summer is often dubbed the busiest season, fall always seems to be the most jam-packed time of year for Team Byrdie. From September through December, our calendars usually fill with back-to-back events—and this year is no exception. Think invite-only New York Fashion Week parties, dinner reservations at the city’s hardest-to-book restaurants, and plenty of other hotspots in between.

With so many places to be and people to see, we’re already mapping out the fashion and beauty looks we’ll be wearing. Whether it’s trend-forward footwear made for a night out or bold fragrances designed to turn heads, every detail is intentional. Ahead, get into this month’s editors’ picks roundup, breaking down the events we’re going to this fall and the fashion and beauty pieces we’re wearing there.

When I’m heading to one of my favorite spots—particularly Café Chelsea and Bar Pisellino come fall—I like to pack a warm, sensual fragrance. This one, with creamy sandalwood and gardenia, is irresistibly joyful and bold. I use it to match my energy when I head out for a night of elevated fun.

Fall is my favorite season, but still find myself craving a warm breeze every once in a while. When that happens, I reach for this divine essence spray to feel a little closer to Vacation Hallie. The formula (created as a collaboration between Monastery and the Coppola Hideaways hotels) works to increase hydration, soothe redness, and reduce inflammation. The scent is deeply grounding, and it’s the perfect antidote to colder temperatures in NYC. I love it so much I want to bathe in it daily. I give it a spray before heading out, to remind myself I can order tiki cocktails without purchasing a plane ticket (and of my favorite trip to date at the inimitable Turtle Inn).

I was never a powder person—I much preferred all dew all the time—but that was before Saie launched this dreamy setting powder. I use it to blur, set, and blend in all the right places. It’s easy (just a tap, tap to the pan and then the same in the spots you want to set on your face) and it makes an incredible difference. Use it when you want your makeup to really give. You won’t be disappointed.

After years of denial and claims that I’m actually “not really a warm fragrance person,” I’ve come to accept that I am, in fact, a warm fragrance person. NFD Eau De Parfum 001—one of two new fragrance drops from Never Fully Dressed, best known for the kind of fun, whimsical garments that are also my speed—is the perfect Sexy Little Warm Scent. With base notes including oud, sandalwood, and vanilla, middle notes including coffee and rum, and top notes like bergamot, nutmeg, and cinnamon, this one is going to be perfect for those backyard dinners where the air is a little cool (not cold) and I’m enjoying a glass of wine in a chic leather jacket.

Nair Lux Wax Stripless Hot Waxing Kit

I know, I know: We’re kind of “off season” when it comes to waxing. But as most of us know, it can be hard to convince yourself to hit up a waxing appointment when the weather gets cooler and there are fewer opportunities to show a little skin. This formula is probably the closest to the “in salon” experience I’ve ever tried: It’s super easy to use, pretty painless, and grabs those hairs. Since it’s typically warm in New York well into late fall, I foresee more than one mini skirt in my fall ‘fit future (especially during New York Fashion Week and sporting events like the U.S. Open). And with this wax, I can ensure my legs are as smooth as I’d like them to be when I’m wearing them.

My favorite hobby is traveling, and this month I’ll be doing just that on a trip to Bermuda. All it takes is a quick two-hour flight, and I’m relaxing on a pink sand beach, making it the perfect spot to escape fall and hold on to summer a little while longer. Another one of my hobbies is finding good quality swimwear that will last for vacations to come, and this beautiful one-piece from La Reveche definitely checks off all of my boxes. From the flower details to the low back detailing, I know that the pink sand beach and crystal water won’t be the only must-see views.

I’m bound to head to many, but one of my recent favorites was the Studio 54-inspired Pearl Box, and at the top of my list to try this season is Baz Luhrmann’s Monsieur. A refined leather jacket is the perfect piece to transition between breezy city streets and dimly lit haunts. The deep oxblood color of this one fits perfectly into my eternally vampiric autumn aesthetic, and the slim-fit style feels distinct from my existing fall outerwear collection.

A retro, intimate speakeasy is my ideal meeting point for date nights and post-summer catch-ups alike, and these shoes are set to work for a wide range of situations. This new launch from Aesop is a fresh take on amber inspired by shooting stars, which speaks directly to my astrology-obsessed heart. It includes some of my go-to notes—like bergamot and pepper—plus an unexpected array of spices and leathery elements for a concoction that truly stands out.

Hanifa Nina Striped Dress

I’m heading to CultureCon for the first time this October, and I couldn’t be more excited. The two-day event in Brooklyn celebrates Black culture and creativity, so it’s only right that I wear something from a Black designer. I’m eyeing this gorgeous striped dress from Hanifa—the asymmetrical neckline is everything. The maxi dress comes in two variations—peach and green. Both are so stunning, but I think the peach is calling my name for the fall.

Every special occasion calls for a special fragrance—and I’ll be heading to CultureCon smelling like S.S.K. (LABS) AM Eau de Parfum. The scent is a perfect blend of floral, gourmand, and spicy notes—think everything from lemon to oak moss to amber. It’s warm, comforting, and unique–which is everything I desire from a fragrance. Plus, the kit comes with two oils (tonka and myrrh), which complement the signature fragrance so well.

I’m taking a break from the nail salon (for the millionth time), so I’m back in my press-on era. Glamzilla’s collab with Glamnetic came at the perfect time because the styles are exactly what I’d ask for at the salon. The style “I Am a Rich Man?” is one I’m gravitating toward for fall. The gold chrome detailing, glossy base, and precise almond shape give these press-ons such an elevated, salon-quality aesthetic.

I plan on hitting the town after the show to keep dancing, so when I get home, I’ll want something to quickly and effectively remove my makeup before I fall into bed. I’ve been loving this cleanser—the bi-phase formula starts as an oil but then turns into a bubbly foam. It takes all my makeup off, but leaves my skin feeling soft and soothed. It’s perfect for late nights as well as my usual routine.

New York Fashion Week is upon us, and I’ve decided that this is going to be my signature scent of this season. Amber Kiso is the kind of scent that wholeheartedly envelops you, toeing the line between barrel-aged maple syrup and well-worn leather. It’s just the right amount of polarizing, with an addictive amber note and tremendous staying power that’ll last me through a long day of fashion shows and cocktail parties. Consider it my armor for the chaos to come.

And it photographs beautifully, giving my cheeks a casually perfect, barely-there flush that makes me feel like I’ve just stepped out of a 2010 Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen paparazzi shot.

Recently, I’ve been using these from Abib, which help tremendously with undereye puffiness thanks to the caffeine and PDRN in the formula. Perhaps most importantly, these patches have the perfect amount of grip, so they hug the skin without that dreaded slip-and-slide effect.

This extra concentrated EDP has the same vanilla, musk, and woody notes we know and love, just amped up a bit. It’s perfect to spritz on for special occasions where you want more intensity and enhanced lasting power. I’ll be wearing it to a cozy northeast November wedding I’m attending; I know it will pair perfectly with crisp air, crunchy leaves, and a nice glass of wine.

Whether I’m heading to the office or out to dinner on a Saturday night, I’m bound to sport a pop of berry blush on my cheeks once the cool weather hits. This one from Ravie Beauty is my new favorite. The baked formula glides onto my skin, imparting a super subtle radiance and the most gorgeous raspberry wash of color. The shade instantly brings my fair complexion to life. I love that it’s quite buildable, so it works beautifully on a range of skin tones, and it lasts all day long without fading.

I’ve been searching for the perfect fall cargidan forever, and I finally found it. This classic cardigan from American Vintage is roomy while still making you look polished (read: not too slouchy), and I love the dainty buttons that run the length of the torso. It comes in more than 10 gorgeous shades (I’m starting my own personal collection), though I know I’ll be wearing the black one quite literally everywhere this season.

I know raffia tote bags are synonymous with summer, but hear me out. As long as it’s warm enough to wear sandals (which it often is into fall these days), I say it gets to stay out. This tote has a nifty attached drawstring bag inside to keep your accessories safe, and two handle lengths so it works as a shoulder or forearm bag. I’m taking it up to Cape Cod with me in September, where I’ll be carrying it from the beach to dinner and a show in Provincetown.

The best perfumes have a transportive effect. This one from Le Labo is no different; it immediately takes me to a desert spa, enveloping me in notes of driftwood, eucalyptus, and cedar. I love how it becomes more complex and beautiful as it melts into the skin. It’s calming, revitalizing, and elevating all at once. I can’t think of a better companion for my October trip upstate, filled with crisp evenings, fire pits, and slow walks through the crunching leaves.
