Dakota Johnson gave her hair new life with a choppy bangs, highlights, and layers.
Sometimes you crave a change but don’t know how to go about it. On the one hand, you want to update your look, but not drastically. The desire for transformation, even just a little, is there. So, what to do? There are plenty of ways to make small, impactful changes to your hair this summer, as Johnson just demonstrated.
Recently, the TIME 100 Gala drew celebrities like Claire Danes, Ethan Hawke, and Kate Hudson, but Dakota Johnson undoubtedly stood out from the rest due to the subtle changes she’s made to her hair. The actor already boasts one of the most envied manes in Hollywood with her long brunette hair and distinctive bangs. However, on April 23, she debuted a few minor adjustments that updated her look without going overboard.
- The first and most obvious change is her bangs. Dakota Johnson has gone from long curtain bangs to a choppier style with an uneven finish. Although it still maintains an arched shape that’s longer at the sides than in the center, her bangs now fall above her eyebrows in a daring, carefree way that suits her well.
- On the other hand, another striking change is her hair color. The actor has added honey-blonde highlights that give her brunette hair a golden finish. Simply put, Dakota Johnson is blonder than ever. She opted for a subtle balayage, a technique that creates very natural-looking highlights while maintaining her hair’s natural tone.
- And finally, she’s also had a haircut. While Dakota still has long hair, you can see she’s added layers that give it more movement. The most noticeable changes are the layers closest to her face, where you can really see how much she’s cut.
