The first big celebrity wedding of the year took place this weekend, with popstar Dua Lipa and actor Callum Turner tying the knot in a three-day extravaganza in Palermo, Sicily. Not only was their wedding venue on-trend (Charli xcx, Jaime Winstone, and Atlanta de Cadenet Taylor all tied the knot on the Italian island), but so too was their aesthetic. From bows galore to bespoke embroidery, these are the trends to know from Dua and Callum’s wedding day.
Embroidered fans and napkins
Today’s couples love all things customized, and Dua and Callum were no different. Case in point: the embroidered fans that were left on each guest’s chair ahead of the ceremony, which were emblazoned with the date, the couple’s initials, and a quote that cropped up on their napkins too: “Stay mad with me forever.”
Chair ribbons
If you thought bridal bows were overdone, think again. Pictures of the wedding ceremony showed that guests were seated apart from each other on lone chairs, each decorated with a single ivory-colored silk ribbon tied in a long bow.

Bespoke photo booths
Retro-style photo booths have become incredibly popular with couples in recent years, offering a sweet, tangible souvenir of the day to take home. Dua and Callum’s was shielded with a curtain of embroidered linen featuring their names in elaborate cutwork lace.
Tapered candles galore
In keeping with the baroque setting of the couple’s wedding venue—the 18th-century Villa Valguarnera—the tables for dinner were dressed in an ornate style, with extravagant silverware and an array of candles of different sizes, including elegant tapered candles. Similarly, there were candles in wine bottles during the welcome party, showing that a lot of thought had been put into the lighting scheme.
Cinematic set pieces
During Dua and Callum’s welcome celebrations on Friday evening, the Piazza Croce dei Vespri was transformed into a retro scene with string lights, vintage cars—including a classic Fiat 128 and Alfa Romeo Giulietta—plus antique mirrors, vintage film posters, and shelves of books. The cars were reportedly used as impromptu food trucks, with piles of courgettes, tomatoes, cherries, and fava beans on top of them. There were also single gerbera daisies on the tables, which coordinated with Dua’s feathered Bottega Veneta handbag.
