Colette Macari and Matt Duggan first matched on Bumble in June of 2021. Matt was intrigued by Colette’s response to one of the app’s prompts (“pasta shapes taste different”) and drawn to her “always overdressed” personal style. Colette thought Matt looked cute right from the jump—and loved that he responded to her pasta hot take.

Their first date was at Cooper’s in the East Village, and three and a half years later, on May 5, 2025, Matt proposed at their apartment, just the two of them.

Eleven months later, on April 18, 2026, they married in New York City, where Colette was born and raised. The ceremony took place at Colette’s parents’ apartment in Tribeca and was followed by a reception at local institution the Odeon, a longtime favorite of the bride’s family.

“As someone who plans weddings for a living, it was kind of a unique experience,” Colette says. “I got to make a lot of decisions independently and worked with some of my favorite vendors along the way. Thankfully, my parents and Matt trusted my expertise.” She assembled the vendor team based on years of experience, while Matt weighed in on a few key decisions like choosing the band, the photographer, and the videographer.

The design process was similarly collaborative, with Colette working alongside Anne Bowen and Jonathan Rogers of Bowen Studio. “Because Jonathan, Anne, and I have worked together before, we had a great understanding of what we were all trying to achieve,” Colette explains. “My parents and Matt trusted that relationship and let us roll with ideas without asking too many questions.”

Despite being in the business, there were some elements Colette hadn’t fully thought through—including the ceremony. “Anne brilliantly proposed a planter box of Lily of the Valley as the backdrop,” Colette recalls. “I am incredibly lucky to count many vendors as friends, and it was important to me that I let those vendors do the things they do best.” Other details, however, she decided were better handled herself. She embroidered all her dinner napkins and baked her own wedding cake with her mom and sister.

She had worked with Patricia Voto of One/Of on her 30th birthday party dress in the spring of 2025, and based on that experience, she knew that she wanted her to make her wedding dress. “I honestly didn’t know what I wanted,” Colette admits. “I did go to a traditional wedding dress boutique for the experience, but I will say… I hated it. Working with Patricia is just so personal. We pulled a few inspo pics—mostly images from the 1950s, and Patricia took it from there.”

Colette had also casually mentioned to Patricia how much she hated wearing white, despite being resigned to the fact that, as the bride, she felt expected to wear it. “At my muslin fitting, Patricia pulled out a Schumacher fabric she was looking at for her curtains as an option,” Colette recalls. “And that’s how we picked the fabric for my wedding dress!”

She had a pair of white satin Manolo Blahnik slingbacks dyed to match the dress, then changed into pink quilted suede Chanel flats later in the night. “Embarrassingly, I am known for my Chanel flat fetish,” she jokes. Colette’s mom gifted her Paul Moretti earrings, and the bride borrowed one of her pinky rings too.
