Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams Are on Opposite Sides of the Fall Knitwear Debate

Williams took the more scenic route. He wore Justin Jacob Louis’s Journey cardigan, a relaxed blue-and-black wool-blend knit featuring intarsia detailing and a graduated night sky, inspired by moonlight over the Canadian prairies in winter. Louis, who was born and raised in Nipisihkopahk and is a member of the Samson Cree Nation, founded the Indigenous streetwear label Section 35 before launching his namesake line. (The knit has now totally sold out.) Williams paired the cardigan with a black T-shirt and tailored trousers, a leather belt and squared off, metal-toed boots, finishing things off with hoop earrings and a delicate necklace.

The choice felt particularly poignant on September 30, Canada’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Williams and other members of the Heated Rivalry team also wore orange ribbon pins for the occasion.

Their New York reunion comes as work continues on Heated Rivalry season two, with Storrie and Williams returning as hockey rivals-turned-lovers Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander. The next installment is set to draw primarily from Rachel Reid’s The Long Game, while incorporating elements of Role Model, and is currently expected to arrive in spring 2027. The pair were joined at the summit by author Reid, creator Jacob Tierney and cast members including Ksenia Daniela Kharlamova and Christina Chang for a panel connected to the newly launched Irina Foundation, an initiative inspired by the series and focused on mental wellness and belonging through sport and the arts.

Their schedules away from the rink are filling up, too. Storrie is part of the sprawling ensemble of Molly Gordon’s forthcoming A24 comedy Peaked, alongside Emma Mackey, Laura Dern, Simone Ashley, and Dua Lipa, and has also filmed Craig Zobel’s thriller Turpentine with Melissa McCarthy. Williams, meanwhile, will next appear in supernatural mystery YAGA, playing the missing heir at the centre of its Baba Yaga-inspired story, which premieres on Crave on October 23. He also has a recurring role in Netflix’s FTX drama The Altruists, arriving November 19.

For now, though, Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams have offered up two dueling propositions for sweater season: Storrie makes the case for the immaculate staple, and Williams, the statement knit to build an entire outfit around.
