After doing some research, I read that Gallic acid (when used with sunscreen) can help reinforce skin’s natural defense against environmental stressors like the sun,etc. So, as someone with rosacea and postmenopausal acne who’s also in the sun quite a bit, I decided to add this serum into my daily skin care regimen. I have used Cetaphil cleanser and oil-free daily moisturizer (spf 35) daily for years, so I trust this brand with my sensitive skin. I apply this serum in the morning after cleansing and before I apply moisturizer. The serum is very soothing as it goes on, and gives my skin a luminous glow. It also layers well under concealer and mineral powder foundation on days I choose to wear makeup. It does feel a bit sticky at first (as most serums do) but absorbs quickly. I have combination skin, but if your skin is on the dryer side, you might try layering the ceramide serum underneath for extra moisture. I will definitely purchase it again!

Definitely use as directed! I love cetaphil serums, this one is nice. I would probably buy again to use with the ceramide serum and daily facial moisturizer

Great for sensitive and inflamed skin
I was very excited to try the Cetaphil Advanced Defense Serum. I have been using their products for years and they have always been one of the best brands for sensitive skin.A little about my skin’s condition before starting use, my skin barrier has been destroyed from over using acne products to treat my inflammatory acne. My skin is dry, red, discolored, and very sensitive. I have acne scarring, fine lines and dark spots. All of which are stubborn. Most serums make my skin worse. I am honestly scared to even try new products because I don’t want to make my skin flare up anymore. However I do use Cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer already, they are trustworthy products that I have never had any issues with.The Cetaphil Advanced Defense Serum is designed for sensitive skin to reduce sensitivity. I can happily say that after a week’s worth of daily use, the product is showing amazing results. The inflammatory acne i’ve been battling for over a year now has substantially subsided, in fact I am break-out free as of now. The redness and acne scarring has significantly decreased. My fine lines and wrinkles are fading. My skins texture, pores, and overall appearance has improved. My skin looks radiant and hydrated.The serum does not leave a sticky residue or feel heavy. It is a lightweight serum, you only need a small amount. It absorbs very well into skin. It’s easy to apply and add into your morning skincare routine. It pairs well with Cetaphil moisturizer. There is no strong fragrance.With daily use the serum reduces daily stressors such as pollution and blue light while gently repairing your skin barrier and reducing signs if aging, dark spots, fine lines, etc.I am very happy with this product and will continue to use it daily. I highly recommend for anyone with extremely sensitive skin.

Gentle serum for sensitive skin
First things first: I’m a Cetaphil person. I have sensitive skin and rosacea, so I really need gentle products that are free of fragrance and other irritants. I have used Cetaphil’s daily moisturizer with sunscreen for at least a decade and probably longer (I’m 53), and I also use one of their eye creams. My kids (who are now in their late teens and early 20s) all started using Cetaphil facial cleansers in middle school, and when he was on Accutane my son also used Cetaphil’s daily hydrating lotion/moisturizer to help him combat the dryness that comes with that medication.Given that history, I was pretty excited to try this new serum. Overall, I really like it. I think it gives my skin a nice glow, its gentle ingredients are great for my sensitive skin, and it’s appropriately moisturizing for a daytime serum. This serum has a watery consistency, so it’s not as moisturizing as a milky serum, but it definitely provides some hydration.The dropper bottle makes this serum very easy to use. While this may sound a little superficial, I do appreciate that the color of the bottle as well–it looks pretty on my bathroom shelf. Finally, I’ll note that I did find this serum to be pretty sticky at first. That feeling eventually goes away as the product absorbs, but it is pretty sticky at first.Overall, I think this serum is very effective for and would recommend it to anyone with sensitive skin, rosacea, eczema, or other skin issues.

AM serum is lightweight and good for sensitive skin
Pros: This AM serum has the same nice lightweight, milky texture that I liked in the overnight version, and it feels smooth and comfortable on the skin without being heavy. It comes in a darkened glass bottle with a dropper, which I really like because it feels protective of the formula and makes it easy to use as part of a morning routine. I also appreciated that this one is clearly meant for daytime use, which makes it simple to know when to apply it. The triple hyaluronic acid and niacinamide make this version stand out because it helped my skin feel more hydrated, smooth, and balanced while also giving it a more refreshed look. I liked that it seemed to help with moisture retention and made my skin look a little more even and refined, especially in areas where texture can show more. It is also fragrance free and gentle, which is a big plus for sensitive skin.Cons: Like the PM version, the bottle feels a little small, so if you use a full application each morning it seems like it could run out fairly quickly. There is also a slight bit of tackiness right after applying, although it does settle down after it has a chance to absorb. While I liked how hydrating and smoothing it felt, the results are more gradual than dramatic, so this is the kind of serum that works best with consistent use rather than giving an instant transformation.
