I’m gonna be honest, I’ve never used acne or scar treatment products before, only those Stridex wipes, but I do have a few acne marks on my lower face that I’d like to improve, so I thought I’d give this one a try. I recognize the brand and have seen it at some larger retail stores.That said, the packaging is pretty plain and doesn’t give much instruction or explanation on how to use it or what to expect. I had to look online to get a better idea of how it’s intended to be used. I do like that it’s a pump bottle, which makes it easy to keep things clean and control the amount. Nothing too premium here.From what I found, it’s described as focusing on hydration and gentle exfoliation to help improve the appearance of skin over time. The issue is that results can take weeks or longer. From what I’ve read, some people mention improvements in skin tone, while others don’t notice much change. It seems to vary depending on skin type and usage.Since I have to post this within a certain timeframe, I can’t fully test long-term results. Most skincare takes several weeks to show visible changes, and this seems to fall into that category. So reviewing something like this feels a bit limited at this stage.After using it a few times, I can say it has a sweet scent and feels more water-based than oily. It’s not sticky or greasy. The scent is a bit strong but not unpleasant. It doesn’t spray as a mist, it comes out more like a light liquid. It actually reminds me of Stridex-type acne pads in how it feels on the skin. I noticed a slight tingling sensation after a few minutes (this lessened each time I used it.) This serum, which is promoted as a product to reduce the appearance of acne scarring, contains some solid ingredients that should have this precise effect. Included in the ingredients are ingredients known for brightening, hydration, and gentle exfoliation. While the ingredients would not flatten raised scars or change the texture of scars (as do some other Mederma products), they should minimize scar discoloration. Having only used this serum for a short period, I have not seen any noticeable difference in the discoloration from my scar. However, I have been pleased with this as a serum. I have tried many serums, and this serum – unlike some – absorbs quite well and does not leave the skin feeling sticky. I am personally averse to having skin that looks or feels remotely greasy, and this serum had neither effect. I have rosacea and very easily irritated skin. Though the serum does contain a fragrance (which I did not notice), it did not at all irritate my skin as have many products that contain fragrance or essential oils. Overall, while this is a solid serum, the ingredients it contains are common to most brightening serums – many of which cost less. The instructions provide to use this for eight weeks both morning and night for best results. I am not sure the one ounce bottle will last for this long but, if it does and if I see noticeable improvement to the discoloration from my scar, I would consider this fairly priced at $33 and would purchase it again.
