Many of our favorite Met Gala looks through the years, however beautiful, are absolutely unwearable in real life. But Sarah Pidgeon’s dress is something we’d actually want to wear this summer, especially the bright, trendy color.
Gone are the neutrals from Pidgeon’s turn as minimalist style icon Carolyn Bessette Kennedy in Love Story. For the 2026 Met Gala, the actor committed to a matching set in chartreuse satin by Loewe. While it’s certainly Met Gala-appropriate—and, with the top’s sculptural shape and midriff-baring shape, right on theme—the look also isn’t hard to imagine throwing on for, say, a destination wedding or a vacation dinner. (Her ethereal makeup and beachy waves are also going right on the mood board.) To make it even more relatable, now imagine the satin skirt in a midi length with a white button-down shirt and kitten heels.

Chartreuse, plus its close cousins like yellow and lime green, gets a lot of skepticism. Let this look put the debate to rest, though. This is a shade that looks better on everyone than they think. And it’s enjoying a major moment for summer, considering labels like Prada, Valentino, and Balenciaga showed the color this season.
The Love Story actor’s recent looks have slowly started breaking away from CBK. In March, for example, she wore a sculptural dress in petal pink, another hue that’s trending for summer; the silhouette was pure Carolyn, but the color was all Pidgeon. (She did, at least, keep the same honey-blonde shade she wore on the show.)
Notably, this is not Sarah Pidgeon’s first Met Gala; she previously attended in 2024, when she was on Broadway. However, this is her first time attending as a household name. And it’s a good thing we’re all paying attention this year: Now, we’ve got a much better grasp on what to wear to the many, many events on the calendar.
