Olivia Rodrigo has kicked off her inaugural Daisy Chain Fields Festival; today, in the Great Park in Irvine, California, sees the likes of Stevie Nicks, Karen O, Chappell Roan, Doechii, Mitski, the Breeders, Bikini Kill, Sarah McLachlan, and Garbage take to the stage. Woman-led, intergenerational, and broad in sound, the acts encapsulate Rodrigo’s progressive stance in pop. 100 percent of the net proceeds will go to 10 non-profit organizations including Baby2Baby, the Center for Reproductive Rights, and Planned Parenthood, with community-led workshops and activities on-site.

Before all that, Rodrigo held a press presentation to share that $10 million would be donated to the orgs, spanning reproductive rights, mental health, domestic violence, and maternal health. Her outfit was also imbued with a feminist message that met the moment.

Rodrigo wore a soft pink embroidered mini-dress, which was custom-made for her by the Palestinian fashion brand Nöl Collective. With a pleated trim scoop neckline and fluttering cap sleeves, the dress fell into a fitted bodice and thigh-length skirt. The dress also features Palestinian Tatreez embroidery—a centuries-old art form passed down from mother to daughter. The design includes hand-embroidered birds, which are symbols of freedom and movement, and daisy chain links.

The you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love singer completed the look with vintage burgundy Betty Mary Janes from Gucci, leaning into the grunge feel, and a Lilith pendant necklace—a reference to Sarah McLachlan’s Lilith Fair. (The showcase of women in music, which McLachlan launched in 1997 and toured successfully around the U.S., is one of Rodrigo’s most direct inspirations for Daisy Chain Fields.) In many ways, it was a look straight out of the Olivia Rodrigo style playbook—fun and feminine, with a bit of edge—but showed once again how thoughtful and personal Rodrigo gets when it comes to the details.

“Daisy Chain Fields was created to celebrate the power of what can happen when we come together to support one another,” Rodrigo stated at Friday’s press conference, joined by org leaders including Jenn Stowe, Christian LoBue, Fatima Goss Graves, and Caren Spruch. “The organizations we’ve partnered with are doing incredibly important work every single day in the U.S. and globally. I’m so grateful to every person who bought a ticket, every artist who waived their fee, every sponsor for signing onto a brand new festival and every donation that helped get to $10 million dollars to support women and girls. I can’t wait to see everyone tomorrow.”
