Daisy Edgar-Jones is giving Elinor Dashwood a 2026 update on her Sense and Sensibility press tour.

For the actor and her longtime stylist, Dani Michelle, nodding to the fashions of Austen’s time without careening into costume dressing was top of mind for the sprawling promotion cycle, which took Edgar-Jones everywhere from Australia to New York City’s Metrograph Theater for a live Vogue podcast taping. After Edgar-Jones showed Michelle an advance screening of the film, the stylist and her team got to work building out a wardrobe of Regency-inspired looks. “My team and I then spent months researching, requesting, and exploring all the designers and archives that would reflect these messages to create a cohesive and symbolic press tour for Daisy,” Michelle tells Vogue.

Michelle sought out pieces new and old that fit the period brief but also worked in the present moment. “We started with a mood board,” she explains. “That ranged from campaigns and runways of Galliano, Chloé, McQueen, [and] Westwood to paintings and symbolism that connected us to Jane Austen’s world.” That means lots of “ruffles, florals, lace, corsetry, ribbons, embroidery, puffed silks, tassels, and pastels.”

Still, everything comes back to Sense and Sensibility. Michelle was especially excited to translate a period staple into the present via a drop-waist Alaïa dress with graduated tiers of ruffles. “That felt so reflective of their hoop skirt in today’s fashion,” she says. Even those spring 1999 Chloé graphic tees called back to the film. “That paid direct homage to the opening and closing scene of the movie as a bird of prey started the film and appeared again at the final kiss,” Michelle explains.

While not always as direct as a bird shirt (or two), communing with nature and solitude were important throughlines. “That feeling of sitting with nature and your thoughts was such a core concept we wanted to reflect and celebrate,” Michelle adds. That very same feeling is what led them to the white bias-cut Stella McCartney dress with feathered, wing-like drapery Edgar-Jones wore to the Dublin premiere. “That felt angelic and bird-like in its lightness and elegance.”

Though Edgar-Jones kept things fresh on the tour (she did get first dibs on one of Prada’s 63 skirts from spring 2027, after all), she and Michelle did also manage an impressive archive pull: a Boucheron necklace from 1873. While a little past Austen’s era (the author died in 1817), the antique looked right at home with Edgar-Jones’s jeans and vintage John Galliano top.

Below, revisit Daisy Edgar-Jones’s Sense and Sensibility press style, from Stella McCartney-era Chloé to custom Miu Miu.
